he was going to Tennessee because he was going to be in the NBA in a year, and they had the best one year plan.
And a bunch of sixpackers thought I was crazy when I suggested we didn't want any part of this three ring circus.
guys pan out makes me glad we havent had to deal with them @ State. sure, they are a one-man team the year they're in school, but when they're gone, as a general rule, the remaining team is in the crapper because they never really had to play the year before(See: State, Kansas). i know that the team gets the one year boost, but who on here really wanted to watch the Jamont show for another season? without Rhodes, teams wouldve clamped on him & he wouldnt have given any of the other players much of a chance to get involved.
its good to see Jarvis getting involved on the offensive end this year.
there have been several guys on State's team in the somewhat recent past who couldve probably developed into an NBA player, but they saw the $$$ and dipped early...

I did chastise you for calling Scotty Hopson "Scottie Flopson". I will grant you that. He is playing the 2 guard at Tennessee, and should be playing the 3 spot, but Tyler Smith is there. However, I did NOT get on any "Scotty haters bandwagon." I was disappointed he didn't honor his commitment, but it was obviously his mistake.Ol Blue said:

or were you really meaning K-State? Beasley is the greatest thing that happened to that program in 20 years. Beasley and Walker took that program to a new level. They not only made an impact in the 1 year they played, their success has helped the program recruit. ****, they helped take the program to the NCAA tournament for the first time in the last 12 seasons. basically, without them, they would have posted yet another year of not making the NCAA tournament. lucky 13 without them.
who currently sit at 11-5. Their 11 wins? Get ready to be impressed, Coach34's head would explode if these were our wins.

Coach's argument (one of them) is that Stansbury loads up on the crappy non-conference wins to pad the win total, which is exactly what KState has done. Another part of his argument is that Stansbbury has a bad record against <span style="text-decoration: line-through;">BCS conference teams</span> the traditional power conference teams (is that easier for you to understand?), which is also what KState has done this year with losses to Kentucky, Iowa and Oregon.
Edit to say that when I re-read yous post, I interpret it differently, and maybe I am restating what you said. At first glance it read like he would be complaining about the schedule regardless of outcome, but I think you mean the quality of the wins. Razor thin difference I guess.

First of all, unless if I missed something, he hasn't flopped, in fact I think he's been pretty damn good for a freshmens. Not one-and-done good, but good still. Second, are you saying that if he wanted to transfer to State, that you wouldn't want him??
...is that he thought he was a one year and go pro kind of player. Some folks hyped him as that, and he probably believes that about himself, too. When you look at it that way, he's been a disappointment so far at UT. Big time.

I have had my eye on Hopson since he left us during the recruiting process. I can say that he is an ok Freshman SEC player especially in the early going. He could still be a major star in coming years.

He's averaging 8.6 points in 20.2 minutes per game. That's more efficient than anyone on our team except Jarvis. He also leads TN in 3pt percentage. He's a solid player and will be a star in a couple years if he stays at TN.

....that "he sucks" is a harsh judgement. He's a division I player. Clearly, he's not as good as the hype that came with him.

i like watching bulldog basketball & make it to games whenever they play within a few hours of here (not real often, but i make a few every year).
i'm not saying a one & done guy wouldnt help the team reach the land of milk and honey (sweet 16), but it just isnt what makes a several year run of getting deep into the tourney possible...

Not because of talent or lack thereof, but rather this guy was the typical player that doesn't mesh well with Stansbury. I was glad when he jumped ship because all he would have created here was havoc. When a player is this deluded, selfish, arrogant, etc, you just can't do anything with him. Rick, in particular, struggles with that type of player.
If Hopson had come to state we would have the same problem we had with J-Money.
