Kelly is unconventional is many ways - in particular training and some other details that did not translate in the NFL. He tried his approach a few times - and I think learned with the small NFL roster - players don't hold up to the work load over a season. Also his offense is fairly simple. Defenses are really good in the NFL. Given some time and film - they figured out how to stop it.
So the question is - does Kelly think his approach is "the only way" and wants a job to prove he can replicate Oregon at another school?
If he does - I hope Moos stays away - because with all the existing culture issues in Lincoln I think that will be a train wreck. If Kelly actually learned something and has a new approach (some of the old - some of what he learned in the NFL - and wants a chance to do something beyond what he did in Oregon - aka kick Saban in the nuts) - then Moos should make him the #1 guy to hire.
Kelly's recruiting issues are independent of any offensive system he selects.
And I'm not going to deduct points from the man because he likes his system and thinks its the way to win. A goodly chunk of the fan base feels the same about NU, although they are talking about a different system.
(It might be too much to point out that Kelly's beloved system is likely what we'll get with Frost, at least initially [and initially could be several years bordering on a decade if he's here a really long time]).
