It came down to Matt Rhule is a Beta, Butler is an Alpha...pretty simple. If MR has a problem with Butler telling him he doesn't have the players to play the way that he wants, that's on MR, not on Butler who had been there for a year. MR is blaming Butler for not having the guys play physical enough and Butler was telling him, I don't have the guys to play that style of defense, which he clearly didn't. That's on MR and everyone that preceded him imo. MR is in charge of recruiting both sides of the ball and in charge of developing those kids. Not the 1st year DC.
Matt is never gonna get it.
If he wants to play physical defense he needs to stop with the little guys like Buford and Hartzog.
They have collapsed down the stretch for two years now. That’s not completely Butler’s fault. This is just more of Rhule preaching physicality and then recruiting small slot receivers instead of OL and DL.
