Our all world defense can be beaten. Iowa hat proved that. Pass well and shoot very well., We can’t score 70+ in this league.

Our defense will work most days. Iowa just played a great game and executed perfectly. And today was far from our best defense. We’ll learn from it and move on.

Stop….Iowa does not play nearly as hard as we do. Way different level of intensity (today was,I hope, an anomaly)
They played much harder than us today greeny. We were stuck in quicksand. They were quicker on d and we just stood around on o. They played hard on both ends and they out toughed us. Credit to them it’s pretty obvious it’s not a great match up for us but we were sleepwalking out of the gate with sloppy play on both ends.

We did not play great and didn't get blown out by a team that was lights out from 3 point range. They made more threes, at a better percentage than we made layups. Sometimes the basketball gods are not with you.

Too many guys were saying we would win the BIG when we still had 16 BIG games to play. Some were acting like we were a TOP 10 team in the nation, Some went way over the top. I said we must take one game at a time. The BIG is a tough and physical league. We looked tired and our defense was not nearly as good as it has been all year. We will have up and downs. Hopefully we can get a win at Northwestern. GO RU,
100%. We can lose against or defeat any team on the schedule. If we come out with no intensity we aren’t beating anyone.

Game thread in full meltdown mode as usual. Just remember that this a good team that will be fine the rest of the season. We simply aren’t good enough offensively yet to overcome a bad defensive performance or be elite but we will be hopefully a single digit seed in the ncaa tournament and top 4 team in the big ten. When the elite recruits start rolling in next year is when we can start to dream big.
No overreaction here. But losing at home to a team well behind you in the standings really stings. The next 2 games will be key to getting the season back on track. Northwestern has now won 2 in a row (Illinois and @Indiana), and they’ve also won at MSU, so Wednesday night’s game will be very tough. Need to find a way to win there and then come back to the RAC to avenge the OSU loss. won’t be easy.

They were getting incredible looks. Those guys will make them. Our defense was horrible. We didn’t stay in front of their guards. We played the screens terribly. It was a total **** show on defense against a good offensive team.

Iowa may end the season top 4/5 in the BIG10.

Obviously didn’t like the execution, especially defensively, but we’ll be fine.

Just need to shake it off and take care of NW.

You can’t match the 135 or so defensive possessions we played bs Purdue and Maryland with what they do on most nights.

What is interesting is that this 2 straight years at the RAC where Iowa’s D didn’t look like what Iowa normally looks like.

I realize there is a part of the attributed to us being on the east side to defend.

To your point being outworked by any team, let alone Iowa has me concerned.

We were easy to defend today because we stood around.

We played bad, mostly on the defensive end which is concerning. However, we were due for a team to come in here and light it up shooting. It happens, great teams are able to overcome a hot shooting night from an opposing team. We are not a great team at this point. Great teams can win in multiple different ways, this team can only win one way and that’s elite defense
Hard to beat any team that scores 36 points from 3. Some were wide open but many were contested or from way beyond the arc. I don’t think the defense was that bad, still held them 5 points under their average.
