How do I post a picture from my phone in a thread?

On the Post Thread screen where you're typing a message click the little square photo icon on the bar right above the message field.

Click "From Computer"

Click "Choose File"

Click "Photo Library"

Choose your photo.

Now... you HAVE TO CLICK on "Upload File(s)". It doesn't look like a clickable button but it is.

Then click post.

Switch from mobile to "full site" then post. You will see the options for inserting links, pics, and video in the toolbar.
