...tall white guy, front court player, think he played the 5. Graduate transfer who played one year early in the Pike era. Pretty good scorer for us even though he could barely jump.

You wouldn't recognize Gettys today. He has totally transformed his body. He has lost 120 pounds. He's currently playing for a team in Singapore. Pike said C.J. still stays in touch with him and the RU staff, and visits the campus whenever he has an opportunity.

Here's a recent photo of Gettys. It's an ad for basketball insoles. Be honest. Would you know it's Gettys?

No way would I have guessed that is CJ.

Good for him. I wonder what kind of player he is with that body? The guy had good hands.

He was at a game last year and I was standing next to him. Everyone knew who he was and I didn't recognize him. I've had season tix for 15 years and still had no clue. You are sooooo correct about not recognizing him.

I thought when he played for us he was listed at 6’11” and 280lbs. If he lost 120 pounds he’d be 6’11 and 160lbs. Doesn’t seem possible.
