Help me dislike Chris Mack

It's surely a change. Pitino was i) a great coach ii) he had been our coach and iii) he was a jerk, generally speaking and especially regarding UK and BBN. So it was easy to dislike him. Everyone is remembering Denny Crum at the end, when he was sort of coasting and was a bland, nice guy figure. Those a little older will recall the 1970s and early 80s when he had a burr about UK, and pretty consistently threw barbs our way.

As someone above said, Mack seems to be a good guy, but soon enough, he will be drawn into the UofL culture, which requires him to develop a distaste for UK, so pretty soon he'll say something that will make it easier to dislike him. Before long, we'll look back at this kind of conversation and laugh.

Main thing for me, though, is Louisville has had back to back Hall of Fame coaches on the sideline. That run is over. Mack is by all accounts a very good coach, but he's not a great coach. He's never going, therefore, to be the kind of villain the other two were in their heydays.....

He left a respectable well-paying job to go to a cesspool- just for money. We chastise kids we care about that play hard for us- Many who come from little or nothing- and leve for money to start their career, but can’t find any fault when a coach does it? He may be a great guy, have great character and ethics, but at the end of the day he did leave kids who committed to him to chase fame and $.
I really don’t have an issue, but what our players do is so much more admirable and justified. If we are going to be upset with them we should be just as judgmental here.

That and the fact he is the coach of U6 pretty much does it for me.

I don't blame him for leaving for the fortune (or fame), but aren't the kids committing to the school as well ? I won't hate the guy, but I sure as hell ain't a fan either. I would take the money and run too !

Was it one of his exemplary teams that got into a fistfight with UC, or am I dreaming that?

Screw Chris Mack lol.

"I'm a Mack fan" well then get your A double S out of here and go be his fan then.

Some of you learn nothing when it comes to UL.

Mack is garbage and stupid. And he's overrated and Cal is going to dismantle his ***.

Chris Mack is not a great coach. He is a decent coach. He left X because he was a hot name, and he needed to bounce now, or he might not have got a power 5 job in the future. He was losing Trevon Bluiett, Karem Kanter, JP Macura, Sean O'Mara. That is there top 3 scorers and 4 of there top 7. He was going to lose 10+ games next year and probably go to the NIT at X. So why not get a raise, go to the acc, and go to the nit there instead?

Unless they follow the Slick Rick playbook, I'm a fan of Chris Mack, Shelvin Mack and Lonny Mack which would be hard to do since he's dead.

So did Cal. And who wouldnt leave to take a sum that would set your family up for generations. Almost ALL coaches leave for the money. You would too.

Luckily I don’t have to do that, but to your point l, I’m sure I would have if that was my chosen careee.
I was pointing out more the hypocrisy we have for the kids l, yet we defend the coach because it’s a job. We forget for these kids it’s their job and the only way they can change reality for their families and themselves.
