2018-19 roster is up... three changes from last year:

Myles Johnson listed at 6-10/255 (down from 264 on last year's roster)
Peter Kiss listed at 6-5/200 (up from 190)
Luke Nathan listed at 6-10/235 (up from 230)

Newcomers:
Caleb McConnell listed at 6-6/190
Ron Harper listed at 6-6/230
Montez Mathis listed at 6-4/200
Shaq Carter listed at 6-9/245
Jacob Young listed at 6-2/190 (up from 185 according to Texas's website last year)

Until Young is eligible in 2019-20, we won't have anyone under 6-4 on the floor.

Doesn't deserve its own thread, but I find the budding bromance between Harper and McConnell to be hilarious. A lot of the bios have a quick Q&A now...

Caleb McConnell:
Favorite Rutgers basketball player, past or present: Ron Harper, Jr.

Ron Harper, Jr:
My spirit animal is…: Caleb McConnell

McConnell looks to me like he has the frame to really put on some good muscle. Broad shoulders.

When Pikiell said he grew a few inches since arriving. So, I assume he knew he was 6'8 as a freshmen and knows he is 6'10 now.

Unless he is lying.

Pikiell said Carter was 265 and the Myles most 30lbs so he has “lied” before. He’s just selling his guys that’s all

Was 6-8 when he committed to Jordan, and 6-9 when he arrived on campus. Plenty of articles at the time.

Not sure why you wanna haggle over this....

I commented based on what Pikiell said in at least on interview this preseason...."he grew a few inches since getting here and is now 6'10".

So...... I am wrong if Pikiell is wrong or exaggerating. No need to argue over something so insignicant as 1 inch, 1.5 inches or 2 inches.

Must have missed it, since he didn't say that in the last two interviews he gave.

He's said he's grown (he has), but for him to have grown "a few inches" since he got here, that means he arrived at 6-7. If he said it earlier this year and misspoke/exaggerated, it's not really something that bears repeating. It's what gives rise to people thinking Harper is going to magically grow to 6-9.

Thiam was recruited at 6-8 as a HS senior, grew to 6-9 before arriving to campus, then grew to 6-10 before his sophomore season. That's enough of an outlier to grow 2 inches after turning 17... to grow 3 inches (a few) after turning 18 is incredibly rare.

Harper at 245 should be better able to bang against B1G PFs. The rest of the changes look fairly minor.

Overall scholarship list:

By height:
6-2, 185 - Young
6-4, 185 - Baker
6-4, 205 - Mathis
6-5, 200 - Kiss
6-6, 205 - Mulcahy
6-6, 230 - Yeboah
6-6, 245 - Harper
6-7, 190 - McConnell
6-9, 250 - Carter
6-9, 250 - Doucoure
6-10, 255 - Johnson

Fun scrimmages!

Young/Baker/Harper/Carter/Myles v Mulcahy/Mathis/McConnell/Yeboah/Doucoure (plus Kiss).

There is real talent on this roster in '19-'20. Solid, solid job by Coach P to have assembled this team in three classes. I"m super excited as will be reflected when @bac2therac posts his annual "Preseason Prediction Thread".

I am not buying Harper is up 15 pounds. It looks like he lost weight from last year.

I agree, that Harper weight seems like a typo. I would believe the opposite — down 15 pounds to 215 before thinking he gained 15 up to 245.

The crazy part about Harper is that he looks leaner and stronger, too.

One other thing: Doucoure and Nathan are both listed as sophomores, so they officially redshirted last season.
