come on guys, this back and forth really isn't solving anything and likely might just be increasing blood pressure.
Some people served, some didn't. I've posted before, back in the Vietnam era there were so many different rules about who had to serve and who was exempted. As long as you followed those rules, nobody has any complaints, or should have any complaints. Since then we're had a volunteer force. If you want to serve, you serve. If not, there shouldn't be any negative to that. (but just get a commercial in here, the volunteer force costs a lot more than personnel costs during the draft years. Just factor that in when you (generic you) complain about the cost of defense).
But where we might draw a line of difference, if you didn't serve, maybe, just maybe, you should take a step back in debating about military things and defer to those who have gone through it. I'm not saying you can't have an opinion, but we have people on here who have years of experience, have piloted planes, know about SERE activities, have gone through the war colleges and served in senior staff positions in either military commands or the Pentagon. These folks might, again just might, have more knowledge about what is likely happening, based on experience, and not simply experience.

What I think is you're very intellectually limited, but not entirely compromised to the point where you can be happy and intellectually limited. There's enough functioning there that you're aware you're limited, and like many others in that circumstance, it makes you very angry to be "talked down to" by people who are smarter and more successful than you are.
