Heels #1 tomorrow?

UCLA won their series over #13 Oregon over the weekend but we sweep Pitt. I know it doesn’t really matter, but do we jump them for #1??

I cannot imagine the Pitt sweep is enough. UCLA needed to lose their series.

crazy to me that Heels are #2 in the nation and project to be the 5th seed. If the top 16 win their regionals, #5 will have a stronger super regional opponent than #2.

Think the 5th seed is pretty fair. The teams above us have better resumes if we’re being objective. Not really our fault though - we just had less Q1 opportunities.

I think the pecking order for top 5 seeds will be:

1) UCLA
2) ACC regular season champ (because GT has a better overall resume than UGA)
3) SEC regular season champ
4) SEC regular season runner-up
5) ACC regular season runner-up

Depending on how the State series goes & then how we do in the ACCT, are we a certain #8? Imo, we have to do very well here on out. No?
I realize it can depend on the others competing to be in the top 8 but our SOS will be a factor in the decision process. We need this series beginning today.

Don't get swept at State and top 8 . Win the state series and top 5 national seed and do damage in Charlotte and top 3 is possible.

How about ACC tournament seeds? Looks to me like we can only be #1 or 2.
Have only seen confirmation that we are locked into top 4 double bye.
We sweep State and BC over GT 2-1 OR BC sweep and we take State 2-1 and we are #1 because tie breaker with GT.
Of course we go 3-0 and GT 0-3 gets us there too.
Don't see a scenario where we fall to #3 or 4 given that we have series wins over GT and BC. GT beating FSU helps as well.
Please correct if I'm missing something.

Correct, we can be at worst the 2 seed. We have head-to-head tiebreaker over BC. If tied with FSU it would go to better record against highest ranked shared opponent. So that would be GT, who we beat but who FSU lost to.

We are locked in at #2 for the ACCT, at the worst. Correct. BC has a major task ahead of them with GT.

It’s pretty wild, if you look at the standings we’ve played the 6 worst teams in the league.

There’s not a lot of difference in the teams from middle to the bottom. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some low seeds make the ACC quarterfinals.
