Its been rumored for a while now that Gabriel is considering over seas as well.

I say rumored because it hasn't come out of his own mouth but nearly every reporter and source that we have has either hinted as much or said it directly.
Damn, that's very discouraging.

Cal even said they should all declare, so what's the problem?

They have to navigate their own lives and path. Plus, between G League, Euro, Aussie, etc. there are tons of places to play ball, make money, possibly see the world while they are young. NONE of those are bad things. What we want and think is best has little to no bearing on what a young man might want. We should all take a page from Cal's book ........ listen, encourage, give advice when asked, and support their decisions once finalized. Let their mommas and pops give advice. It's one thing to access where a player stands , it's another to say they're dumb if they don't do what one of us suggests.

Just one weasel's opinion.

Right off the top of my head TJ Walker talked about it a bit before he left the site that overseas was a legit option for Gabriel. We've got a guy on House of Blue that's been pretty on point(pretty sure it's a media guy I just don't wanna say his name because I'm not sure he'd like me doing that here), and he's been saying it for going on a month now.

I think Kyle tucker has at least hinted at it.

Not a reporter or a UK guy but Andrew Slater has hinted at it too and he's a guy that likely got pretty close to Gabriel when he was covering his recruitment for the Duke 247 site.

I have heard that as well. However, if that were true, why would he not go ahead and sign with an agent, as well as travel the state and get autograph money? I do not see him going overseas next year for those reasons alone.

My thing with this is why isn’t Cal actively recruiting someone to potentially fill their spot? I believe he encouraged them to get the free feedback with the expectation to get all 3 back for one more season.

I’m still hopeful everyone returns other than the five who are gone, and I honestly think it will be to their benefit. Yes I’m a UK fan, I want to see us win every game by 50 and claim a national title every year. I know that’s unreasonable, but gosh darn it we are UK. It’s my birth right isn’t it?

I would think so too. If 2 of the 3 of pj, Vando and Gabriel leave we will be very thin in the front court.

You can win going 4 guard in college though. That may be Cals plans and why we're loading up on guards.

I'm still hopeful one of Gabriel or Washington makes a decision that makes sense. I think Vando is all but a lock to come back at this point. I assume he just wants to be able to talk to scouts and gms and hear first hand what their opinion of his game is. If that's the case id order Gabriel over Washington because he stretches the floor.

I think/hope Richards will be able to fill the role of go to back to the basket scorer that we depended on pj for when he wasn't uselessly standing on the perimeter. Cal and staff seemed to be trying to develop him for that role.

I hope you’re right, but I’m not holding my breath on Richards. He looked somewhat similar to SKJ during his freshman year. I think he’s still ways away from being a force. Unfortunately we will probably only have him one more year regardless if he’s ready or not.

Does anyone know what they get paid for autograph tour? Cameron Mills was talking about it the other day while hosting a show but I missed it.

I can see declaring when a player is right there at the doorstep and may only need minor improvement to be able to make an NBA roster, but to declare when your entire game is lacking in multiple area’s to me is futile. I get it that they want to see where they stand but why waste your one opportunity when it’s obvious that a player has so much that they need to work on in the college game much less the NBA. If you can’t lead the pack with the little dog’s, you sure can’t run with the big dog’s.

It's not their one opportunity. They can enter the draft two times and pull out both times. The third time they enter the draft they have to stay in or can never enter the draft again.

That is interesting Cindog, what is his name? Do you know if Cal has shown any interest? Also, is he ranked in the top 150? Sorry for all the questions..lol
Gob Gabriel. Offers from Rutgers, New Hampshire, St. Bonaventure, and UMass Lowell.

Here’s the big question. If not invited when do vanderbilt and Gabriel make their intentions for next season known?? Nothing holding them back now
Not til around the deadline as they can still go talk to teams and what not on their dime. JV will be back , I don't think there is any question about that.

Declaring is useless in some aspects if you're not ready. If you struggled against college competition, there's no point in declaring. Come back and beat level 2 before you consider level 1. Also for one year college basketball IS an NBA combine. They just watched you for an entire year and aren't interested. There's no reason to find out why, it's probably because you aren't ready in general aspects. Just focus on becoming a better basketball player, novel idea.

I get it, why not? But it's already tiresome watching guys have no interest in their current position and just want out even when they aren't near ready.

Who do you feel showed no interest in their current position while playing for Cal?

I mean isn't that a general statement for ALL the recruits who will not go into the first and second rounds.

In theory, even guys who don’t get into the combine can get individual workouts/feedback.

Plus, some guys just want out. They can go make a couple bucks in Europe or play in the G-League whether they go to the Combine or not.

The older I get, the crazier I think it is though. Pass up millions? Nah. But leave college to go ride buses and make 50 grand? Insane, honestly. I think they don’t know how good they’ve got it.

Yeah and unless some of these guys are making like a $250,000 salary somewhere in Europe, I just don’t see what the rush is to leave. Maybe I’m crazy but if making good money like that meant I had to move to some ******** like Lithuania I’d say thanks but no thanks.

I still think we get all 3 of them back. Gabriel is just a year away from getting a degree so it will be in his best interest to get that and then take a shot at the NBA or play overseas.

To teenagers having to do term papers and take history exams, with friends that work at Wendy’s, $50,000 for playing ball with some potential to move to the next level is tempting believe it or not

Didn’t say it wasn’t tempting. But their situations as players at UK are far better than the typical G-League life.

These guys are rock stars. Literally BMOC. They don’t believe it now, but it may never get any better. At least for some of them.

This, absolutely no question in my mind that PJ, WG or any high profile UK player really lives more “lavishly” has better gear, facilities, living quarters trainers, parties, coaches .., etc etc than some random and obscure g league team that takes mediocre buses and averages 170 fans per game.
