Hearing some chatter

I trust Moos. Seems competent enough not to repeat all our past mistakes:

1. Solich: cronyism hire, poor recruiting, humiliated by good teams once Osborne recruits gone.

2. Callahan: poor choice in defensive coordinator, outsider that wasn’t accepted by Holy Church of Osborne Traditionalists, no margin for error

3. Pelini: boorish antics, awful temper with in game meltdowns, thought could put stars on recruits (couldn’t), lazy recruiter, humiliated by good teams once he was dependent on his own recruits

4. Riley: overcorrection for Pelini’s personality with mediocre coaching record, wasted hire with no rational expectation of success

Hypothetical - had Cally been using the old if it ain't broke, don't fix it approach and offered Pelini retention as the DC, would Bo have taken it?

No.

I would say that Callahan with a better DC and Pelini with an AD who held him accountable for behavior and recruits were our best chances for success post Osborne.

Solich was going the wrong way on a one way road and Mike Riley should have never been hired.

And our decision to fire each has been validated by the fact that none of them had or ever will have a power 5 coaching job again. They all ended up doing EXACTLY what is best suited for their skill level. For Riley, that means retirement.

that NU is now looking strongly at Houston Nutt as the next coach.
My source? A guy I met at the gas station this morning. He said that he had heard this info at his third cousin's bar mitzvah.
Why would he say this if it isn't true? Hmmm.....

The only "chatter" you are hearing is from those sheep you spend so much time with. I am starting to worry about you. :)

You have to admit, all these Frost, new coach, that coach , this other coach is coming threads are entertaining, because the football in Lincoln certainly isn’t. Well done, Penny!

Nice! At first my heart stopped but then realized it was a joke. Too late though...I have to go change my pants.

Either get a star coordinator at a major program (like Penn State’s OC) or a successful head coach (Mullen or Frost).
Either get a star coordinator at a major program (like Penn State’s OC)

If a change is made, IMO, this would be totally unacceptable. A Head Coach of significance only and Nebraskans should not accept anything less.

The boyfriend of my son's daycare receptionist said they are going to bring back Frank Solich, with Barney Cotton as OC and Bo Pelini as DC. Tom Osborne has demanded his name be taken off the field unless this happens, and boosters are listening.

Completely disagree. A lot of times if you limit yourself to just head coaches, you're likely limiting yourself to a bunch of retreads who have failed at other schools. A great coordinator who's ready for the added responsibility of a head coaching job is a lot of times the best option, TO being just one example.

Thanks for our thoughts.
