I do business with one of the largest food purveyors in America and they will be out of ground beef from basically now and aren’t supposed to have any for 2 weeks. That might be unprecedented. It’s not a beef shortage, it’s a processing shortage. And it’s not guaranteed everything is back to normal in 2 weeks.

It's all starting to make sense. This virus was a wider plot by China to reduce their massive inventory of tofu patties.

We’re going to have a cow processed and fill the freezer up. Easy enough.

We are blessed to be able to buy our beef 1/2 cow at a time. The processor often has ground beef that they sell in 1 or 1 lb units. You might want to call up meat processors in your area and ask if they have any.

If you've never got ground beef from the processor, it is way better than grocery store beef. It tastes better and shrinks less.

It will probably be Beef, Chicken, & Pork. My employer does a large amount of transportation business for Tyson (chicken & beef), Cargill (beef), Sanderson Farms, & Koch Foods. All of them have reduced production significantly the last 2-3 weeks. I fear that the Great Toilet Paper shortage a few weeks ago was not even a good practice run for what we are about to encounter.

I filled the freezer at house with beef & chicken last weekend. I will be good for a 3-4 weeks at a minimum.

I don't think it will be anything close to the toilet paper issue. Being in the business we are dealing with it daily. At this point we do not have any protein clients who have had to shut down plants yet. That is not to say it won't happen, but it hasn't yet.

Posts like yours is why people hoard. You just basically gave people a reason to flock to the grocery stores and stock up on meat, which is the opposite of what needs to happen.

If there's a shortage, then we deal with it. People wouldn't even realize it and it would come on much more slowly.

The easiest solution is to set up free tours of meat processing plants. Then the demand for beef, pork, and chicken would drop about 95%.

Add this to steve harvey's list - reduced consumption of red meat ---> lower cholesterol ---> lower risk of heart disease.

Thanks covid-19

Way to cause more panic.
There will only be a shortage because people will panic buy. It was on the news here. Big Box stores will have shortages, but small butchers will be fine since they have their own sources.

Post aren’t the reason for anything. It’s a broken supply chain due to a global pandemic. Also, the last 6 weeks I’ve gotten thousands of pounds of meat to folks who couldn’t get it at no profit to myself. I’ll continue to do that going forward if I can use my connections to find and acquire an order. A heads-up to MSU folks is just that. Lastly, you’re an idiot go 17 yourself.

Where's The Beef?

A commercial ahead of it's time.

It's all going to work out, each of us just may not have every single thing that you desire.

ISO... Tonic Water.

There won't be any food shortages in this country. If your grocery store is short it's because a bunch of a$$holes watching MSNBC ran to the store and filled their freezer up so they will be good for a month or so.

No matter how many times you say this, it's not right.

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/04/27/tys...ing-as-coronavirus-forces-plant-closures.html

Tyson Foods expects that millions of pounds of meat will disappear from the food supply as the company temporarily shutters beef, pork and chicken plants due to local coronavirus outbreaks.
Meat processors, including Tyson, Smithfield and JBS, are closing U.S. facilities after workers test positive for Covid-19. Meatpacking workers often work shoulder to shoulder for hours at a time, increasing their risk of exposure to the virus.

Processing plants are closed and it's causing a lack of supply.

These temporary closures will also mean millions of livestock will be slaughtered because farmers will not be able to sell their pigs, cows and chickens to buyers who can process the meat.

Again, not a higher demand issue. It's a supply chain issue due to covid19.

Now if you want to debate should plants be closing due to fears over the virus spreading, that's a whole different topic. I think this country is on life support and folks need to stay at work to keep this thing limping around. I mean, jesus h christ my grandparents generation stormed Normandy. 407,000 americans gave up their life to fight an evil entity and protect our way of living.

There's only like 4 companies handling all the beef processing. The government should've fixed that **** years ago. It's effectively a monopoly that costs farmers and consumers a lot of money.
