Unexpected visit. Been quite a long time since I’ve had time to see things. Any suggestions for food or places to visit in the virus times?

You need to more specific. Corinth to Tunica to Greenville to Columbus is quite a large area.

When are you coming? I may not be able to but if possible I’d like to meet up for a few mins if you had the time. I can give some suggestions if you narrow down the part of North Mississippi.

Near Tupleo. I am going to spend more time with Mom in Smithville and my Brother in Fulton but I hope that I will have a chance to run around to see friends all over northern Mississippi.

Tupelo? Corinth? Iuka? Byhalia? Olive Branch? Southaven? Tunica? Holly Springs? North Mississippi is a pretty broad area.

Neon Pig burgers in Tupelo are something you might want to try.... Slug Burgers and true soda fountain coke in Corinth at Borroums Drug Store, and Shiloh is a an hour and half away from Tupelo

Mennonite Bakery on H-45 in Brooksville. Get some Almond Poppyseed cake. Donuts too, if you like eating that kind of stuff. Oh, finish your sugar overload with a Pluckett Bread Loaf.

Nothing really new around here I bleed maroon, as always. Be careful, it's settling down in Monroe County. That County was the epicenter in NE MiSS to begin with. Okktibeha and Lowndes have passed it in the last week, Lee County will pass it within a week. Fulton and Itawamba County are still doing relatively well.

Como Steak house.
Been forever since I’ve been there but it is Fandamntastic.
Also in Como is a little Thai place that is all homemade. Again been awhile.
Hope it’s still there.

Como is a pretty good clip from Tupelo, but it's some good eatin' when you get there. There's a newish drive through animal park/safari that's a lot of fun too.

Clay's House of Pig in Tupelo is excellent.

Cafe 212 is a great little sandwich and coffee place. They've brought me more happiness for my dollar that any other restaurant in the world.

Vanelli's is currently closed, but if it opens back up in time it's really good. Be prepared for Voz to talk to you forever.

Downunder is a new Australian bar/restaurant that's worth a trip. The meat pies were surprisingly good.

Go up to Tishomingo State Park for a bit. Come back through Belmont and go to the Cardinal Shack, the world's greatest snow cone joint.

Cafe 212 is closed on weekends if you’re only here for sat / sun. It’s open during the week till early afternoon.

Blue Canoe is my favorite but have been closed - finally reopening Monday. They may look open this weekend but it’s a private event as sort of a soft reopening for them. Live music, cold beer, and great food every night.

Crave is a dessert / coffee shop in downtown Tupelo that’s great.

Strangebrew also has a coffee shop here now if you want to support a sixpack sponsor.

If you bike / run, there is a ~40 mile paved trail from New Albany to Houston that’s very popular.

Tupelo is nearly 100% open but isn’t hosting any kind of events that I know of.

Events this weekend in Tupelo

The USSSA baseball tournament, for players ages 8 to 14, is expected to bring in 87 teams from Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee. Games will be played at Ballard Park and Rob Leake City Park from today through Sunday.
The adult softball tournament will be held at Veterans Park on Saturday, while the 3v3 Soccer Live event, for ages 10 through 17, is set for Saturday at Ballard.
Plus, there will be a swimming camp for about 100 participants at the Tupelo Aquatic Center on Saturday and Sunday.

If you want seriously good catfish try Friendship House on Coontail Rd. near Lake Monroe. Been going there for at least 25 years when I’m back in the old stomping grounds. Great way to round out the day after an early kick on the way back home. Even better when we win.

As of a couple of months ago, you can buy beer and liquor in Amory. Anthonys in West Point is the best food in the area, you better make reservations, I think they are only seating 50% capacity.

Tupelo: Neon Pig, Amsterdam Deli, U & Me Asian. If you go to the Pig, at least TRY the potato salad, that stuff is stinking AWESOME.
Amory: There are a lot of new places sort of opening up since it went wet. Most are not doing dining room stuff yet. Out in the County: Pete's is gone. Adams Family is take out only. The Friendship House is open.
Fulton: I'm not sure what the County Gentleman is doing now but they do a heck of a steak.
Starkville: Tyler or Two Brothers. I'm not sure what they are doing right now.
Corinth: Boorum's Drug store
Not in MS but it's close: The best catfish in the entire world is at the Catfish Hotel just north of Shiloh National Military Park.
