Good (and painful) memories. I disagree about that 85 team being the best ever though. As good as that team was, this 19 team is better. It doesn't have the top-end talent the 85 team did, but the bottom half of the batting order and bench are much stronger, and there's a lot more pitching depth on this team.

Hit a grand slam in his 1st at bat as a Bulldog and in his last at bat as a Bulldog, and gave up one on his last pitch as a Bulldog. I still wonder how far the 84 team could have gone if Polk had realized he could pitch a little then.

It's amazing how much momentum can swing. Just look at last year with Arkansas. One crazy play changes it all.

But nothing. And I repeat. Nothing can distort the energy field of the rally banana.

That moment is probably the worst I've ever felt over a ball game. In one fell swoop the season ended, the dream of a NC ended, and the MSU careers of some very special players ended.

Gene Morgan taking the line drive ankle shot is actually what cost us the 1985 NC. Morgan was almost untouchable going against OK State and Texas until the injury.

I still say the 1989 team was better than 1985. There wasn't a Clark/Palmeiro, but the back of the lineup was more potent and the pitching was comparable with Bobby Reed, Pete Young, and Tracy Jobes. They were ranked #1 almost the whole season. That 89 regional was as disappointing as the 85 CWS.
