Headed to Lincoln

I am flying to Omaha on Friday, staying there for the night, and then driving to Lincoln early Saturday to watch the Cats play. Like everyone else, I am totally frustrated with the team and it was a sad sight to watch this team that two weeks ago looked so good and now looks pretty pitiful. So, they are facing a Nebraska team fresh off a victory against the only B1G team we beat, and we are catching them at the wrong time (us in a spiral down while they have turned things around). I hope that our coaches can put together a winning game plan no matter how ugly it is. I will cheer and wear my purple but I have no confidence so if we lose, I will not be upset. These are kids and they want to win (its the adults I am frustrated at). Still, I have never seen a game at Memorial Stadium and I look forward to being at the game.

Is anyone else headed to the game?

I think you should get a bunch of people from the board together. It's easy. Just find a decent place to meet for dinner the night before the game.

Safe travels. Bring home a winner.

Whenever I think the Cats cannot get any lower, they pull a stunner and play a great game. Hope it happens in Lincoln.

JG, you will be astounded at how well you're treated in Lincoln. I'm not sure of the backstory there, whether it's some sort of cultural manifestation of "Nebraska nice", or perhaps (as I've heard rumored) it's something Tom Osborne insisted on when he walked on water there . . . but I've been to both of our previous visits there and from both personal experience and more stories than I can count, these people are gracious beyond belief to visitors. If you get a chance, take a stroll around the Haymarket District, which is within a long walk of Memorial Stadium. Nebraska is about the last place you'd expect to find Cajun food, but they have a place that I really enjoyed called Buzzard Billy's. At any rate, my lovely wife and I will be driving out from Chicago; hopefully we'll have a decent purple turnout as Lincoln is always an enjoyable trip and the kids could certainly use the support. Not sure whether I'll be trotting out the Budzien or the Musso jersey, but if you get a chance to say hello, I'd be honored to make your acquaintance. Safe travels.

As you know, Your Hungriness (Hungryness?), we realistically should be going for our third straight win in Lincoln, despite being dogs every time. So I wouldn't discount any possibilities. I know we've looked abysmal these last two weeks, but I think we were something like 3-5 going into the '11 game there and came out with the win. Plus, Thorson's going to have something of a breakout game one of these weeks, and I understand Nebraska's pass defense is considered a weakness for them. Besides, if I keep looking for bounce-back games from our guys, ONE of these weeks it's gotta happen, right? o_O

I can still see Colter hitting Ebert on that skinny post (I think that was the route) and just running away. The safety was late (play action?) and Ebert's 4.4 speed did the rest.

I'll be in Lincoln over the weekend, but won't get in until 21:30 on Friday. Obviously, look for the mixed hard hat to find me :)

I'll be in Lincoln- haven't missed a Cats game there yet. Not getting in until Saturday morning though, and leaving after the game to drive back home. Have a great time man. It's a fun experience.

That was my exact attitude when we went to Lincoln so I just decided that I would enjoy the sights and sounds of a Nebraska football game. Oh, did I mention the Cats won that day?

There will be many in the state to the immediate east hoping to see the Wildcats beat up the Cornhuskers. Personally, I'm hoping that Thorson finds his groove and the Northwestern receivers provide him with better help on his good throws.

Yep - I will be there as usual. Nebraska native and NU grad. Will be there with several friends as well, also Nebraska natives and NU grads.
