I think they have to be in the portal by the deadline, not that they have to pick a school by that same deadline.
Would be cool if we could make this a trend. Maybe buy some to 10 recruiting classes along with a few big transfers!

He's likely a one-year player before going to the NFL. He wants to get on board for summer workouts/practices so he can make that last year an impressive one for NFL scouts. He's not going to want to change his mind at the last minute before Fall season and get a late start on it.

Great get. Huge for our defense. Now need some defensive tackles for depth. I do worry that we won the recruiting battle here just because we offered more money. But I doubt it. We have deeper pockets than Texas? Hardly.

Mathis appears to be a good player. However, as long as this clown is the head coach, does it really matter? He needs 6 wins to keep his job in his 5th year? The dude is not a head coach, and no matter how may hundred of thousands of dollars thrown to a player will matter. I can't wait until they fire his *** at the end of the year. Glad the Huskers won this recruiting battle, big win. Been a good offseason recruiting from the portal, hope it can continue with high school players this upcoming cycle too.
The transfer portal closes today. So we probably wouldn't see problems come up until next fall. He's coming in at one of our stronger positions with two returning starters. So that should be interesting.
Hopefully it won't happen here, but there will be situations where a transfer gets more money than established players and comes in acting like a big shot, skips workouts and doesn't work hard. In those situations, I guarantee you that players are going to go to their coaches and demand more money than the clown that was brought in. Players are going to be pissed off.
If one of your own gets big money while you don't, it's one thing. But if an outsider gets big money and is promised a starting spot (maybe even at your position), that's another thing entirely!
I think all three will be on the field a lot, especially on passing downs. But I assume Nelson and Mathis are starters in base D.
