As much as I hated Pelini's sideline antics....I also hate every time they show Riley and he's just standing there by himself with a deer in the headlights look. He never seems to be coaching up the players.

Whereas Urban Meyer always seems to be coaching his butt off. He showed more emotion after a 5-yard false start penalty than Riley's shown in 3 years.

I Feel bad for him too.

Why? He has been able to retire for decades. He is a multi-millionaire and only coaches because he wants to. Many people need to work jobs they hate, Mike Riley is not one of them. He could quit tonight. He is a nice guy but it irks me something fierce that his teams are as soft as his smile. Teams with "less" talent can make a game with tOSU, we didn't even show up tonight. This post is not really aimed at you, just been seeing a lot of "feel bad for Mike" sentiments. Don't he was able to do exactly what he wanted with his life and make a lot of money whilst doing it.

Mike mentioned in his post-game press conference that he did not get a sense this past week that the players were not ready to play in tonight's game. Makes me wonder if he even knows his own players very well.

He sounds very discouraged, maybe even not well.

Fire his *** now and move on.

He's a good guy and it sucks to see it not work for him. But it's best for him to move on at the end of the season. He should have never been offered in the first place. Not sure why he took the Nebraska job.. Did he expect this to be Oregon State? 500 won't do it here.

the game has passed him by. it's not his fault he's in this position - he never should have been put there by SE.

I disagree in some respect. It’s not like SE put a gun to his head and forced him. He should have known the expectations at Nebraska and his ability to compete in that environment.

It looks to me like a guy who has never been a great coach was getting pressure from a below average institution with low expectations and he had a gift wrapped retirement package from SE come calling. It was his choice to put himself on the big stage with a big spotlight. Riley is not a victim.

Obviously you haven't been watching any games this year. Let me recap it for you:

Arky State: Seconds from losing
Oregon: Gave up 42 pts by the half
N. Illini: Loss at home
Illinois: Only decent game.
Wisky: Obliterated in the 4th qtr.
Ohio State: No words

Our on-the-field performance has shown no signs of things getting better, therefore, it's time for Mike to go.

I was at the Illinois game , do a rewind. Two of the drives we scored on , would have been 3 and out except for an Illini pentaltys Also Lee through an interception that except that our TE (Hoppe's) turned DB and pulled the ball away

That was a very misleading score
