Ah now lads, stop what ye’re at , Iowa’s gone and signed a long snapper named Matty McLaughlin, and I’m tellin’ ye that’s not a football player, that’s a fella who shows up early to weddings and fixes chairs without bein’ asked.
Sure the position fits him like a wool sweater on a cold Dublin mornin’ , one job and backwards with no applause.
And when Kinnick calls his name it’s gonna sound like halftime at a pub:

So what? Chuck Long's only offer was Northern Illinois. Dallas Clark was a walkon. Indiana has eight four- or five-star players. Most other CFP teams had at least 40. Get it yet?

Former Simpson punter Tanner Philpott is headed to Iowa City after having earned Division III third-team All-America recognition this past season for Simpson College in Indianola.
Philpott averaged 43.9 yards on 40 punts this past season with 16 of his punts downed inside the 20-yard line.
Iowa has a void to fill after punter after two-year starter Rhys Dakin transferred to Michigan State where former Iowa special teams coordinator LeVar Woods is now the assistant head coach and special teams coordinator under new head coach Pat Fitzgerald.
Philpott has two seasons of eligibility.

Exactly why it's important. There were some other snaps that weren't great.
