Hatch has been a good player for us but we are now in game 31. At some point you’ve got to face up to the reality that it ain’t happening this season. Just think about the sad fact that our 175 lb shortstop is hitting 80 points higher than our 195 lb first baseman.

He was 3-12 vs Auburn and followed that up by going 0-4 vs Arkansas State. He doesn't have a multi-RBI game all season. Spare me the sentiment that a meaningless solo homerun when the game is already in hand is somehow a sign of coming out of his slump. His OBP is down to .266, which is nearly 100 points less than the next lowest everyday player. At this point, he's a giant detriment to our offense and arguing otherwise is asinine.

lineup is, including backups, I don't see you hitting most anyone left on the schedule. I want to see him break out of it but truthfully I'm just not sure he's very good. Major difference in waiting on Rowdey to break out of a slump. You knew it was coming. With Hatcher, I'm not optimistic at all.

You're actually willing to wait 3 more weeks for him? That means playing 6 games against two top 5 teams and then 3 against A&M. 1 HR doesn't buy him 3 more weeks at all w/ a .202 batting average and a .266 OBP. He's the ONLY player on the entire team even in the .200's OBP. Next closest regular is Logan Tanner at .357

Rowdy has a track record of sucking for the first half of the season and then turning it on.

Hatcher does not. And nobody said there hasn't been any positive. He's not hitting .000. But he is hitting pretty awful.

I'm just curious what the hell Cumbest is doing in practice to make Lemonis think he doesn't deserve a shot. Yes, it's a small sample size, but he's performing at the plate stat wise. Why does Lemonis think it isn't good enough to justify more ABs? Especially considering putting him at RF is probably a defensive upgrade since Allen and Hatch are probably a wash at first. Cumbest must do something that has convinced Lemonis that every time he makes contact at the plate it's just blind luck.

And I'm not saying give up on Hatcher. Let him keep getting bats situationally and depending on how Cumbest (or whoever replaces him in the lineup) does, maybe put him back in as a starter after a few games. But we've had a lot of season already for him to figure things out and the pitching is not going to get easier.

Yeah, at least Lemonis dropped him in the order, but you really only do that if you need his glove on the field, and Hatcher is nothing special defensively either.

It really is time to do something different. I'm not sure Cumbest is the answer...but you never know until you try it. Maybe we catch lightning in a bottle.

When you combine it with the fact Cumbest may be better in LF than Allen, it's pretty obvious what needs to happen.

Here is what I don't get. Hatcher has started in all 32 games. He is by my quick math tied for the third most ABs on the team. The coaching staff has given Tanner Allen a day off to give guys a chance to get some reps, he has sat Dubrule, but he won't sit Hatcher even for one game. Its almost as if he thinks if he does he won't be able to justify putting him back in the lineup. Nobody wants hatch to start hitting more than I do but come on, at some point you gotta try something else. At the very least platoon for a few games and see what works best. Time is running out and we can't go into post season hitting .200 at the 1B position or a new first baseman still trying to get up to speed with his defense.

You see how Scotty Dubrule has responded since getting benched. Hatcher has performed FAR WORSE than Dubrule. Sitting might do the guy some good. Take some pressure off of him for awhile. Give him some midweek ABs and give him a chance, but he doesn't deserve to be in any of these big SEC series coming up.

The thing is that Hatcher can’t even put together good ABs against midweek competition. He consistently misses the best pitches and either K, hits a lazy fly ball, or hits weak ground balls. There’s no bad luck line drives being caught.

It would be one thing if there was nobody on the bench that could do better, but there’s at least 5 guys who couldn’t do any worse. I mean, Hatcher’s OBP is well under .300. That’s unreal. He’s been given an unbelievable amount of rope, and it’s past time to let someone else have a chance.
