Has your community suspended garbage pickup? Ours has

stopped until further notice. There has been no official reason given although some are saying they are citing fear of spreading the virus. Our city is continuing its service. It will get interesting when people from the county begin to take their garbage to various neighbors and friends in the city.

This is not a PSC matter. Whichever county this is has a contract with a private solid waste collector. And that contract likely has a favorable force majeure clause that excuses performance under these circumstances. The county will either need to find a basis to terminate the contract unrelated to this 17n outbreak or gear up to go out for RFP at the end of the current contract term. Most of these contracts are three years with a three year renewal.

We still have regular garbage, recycling, and trash pickup. Garbage and recycling are automated, in the big bins.

Our county commissioner just put us on the damnedest lockdown ever...

1. Every is to stay at home unless it's absolutely essential to leave.

2. All jobs are essential to our economic health so everyone should go to work if you have a job. If you don't, go find one.

Reminds me of being a teenager. You're grounded for a month... Go get a job... Where are you? I told you, your *** is grounded.

It's kinda genius on the county commissioners part though, in a month if people are sick he will say that he told him to stay home... If the economy is **** he will say he told everyone to go to work.

Is that real? Lol. Unreal.

Here it’s fine. But basically two people can handle one truck. In most cases, no one has to even get out of the truck.

Not here. Ours is all automated so nobody even gets out of the truck. No need to stop that.

Is that the same commisioner as the one in Georgia who said pointing a hair dryer on high heat at your nose would kill the virus?

Here is the exact quote... It's a real pro business area, Dallas Cowboys HQ here and PGA is moving here.... It's all about growth. I just see some developer helping him write this and there is nothing he can do because he has taken so many kickbacks, the developer has him by the nads. Check out the link below, the video mid-page is his announcement, very hostage video-esque.

"All persons in Collin County are hereby ordered to stay home, except for travel related to essential activities. Entertainment activities are not considered essential activities," the order said.

"All businesses, all jobs and all workers are essential to the financial health of our local economy and therefore they are essential to the financial health and well being of our Collin County citizens," Hill said. "Persons who are employed need to stay employed. Persons who lack employment, need to gain employment. Businesses that are able to remain open need to remain open, however, we do expect all persons, whether employees, business owners or customers, we are all in this together and we must all take necessary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community."

Like your neighborhood? Or your city? Haven’t heard of any municipality in the state stopping garbage pickup.

Starkville cut outs in half, from twice a week to once a week.
I don’t necessarily understand it- we’re all at home producing more garbage than ever.

Ours was cut from twice a week to once a week several years ago. And at the same time they doubled our cost.

I suppose Starkville is trying to minimze exposure of employees.

I was in Philadelphia during one of their garbage strikes some years ago. Garbage was piled in mountains that must've been at least 50 feet high in the parking lot of the Vet. It smelled awful.
