I’m sure there’s been a murderer that’s played or coached in college basketball so probably. But yeah, Knight is garbage

Knight was horrible and never could stand him. I'd also give a vote to Dean Smith as I never could stand his stall ball tactics and, after all, he did usher in the cheating at UNC that they still get away with. Don't know that he treated others like scum as Knight did though.

I left a coiling megahenry in the Memorial Coliseum ******* once. It was pretty impressive. I didn't flush by because i wanted others to experience it's awesomeness. And because i doubted it could be flushed.

Bliss was assistant coach at IU while Bobby Knight was the head coach so you had 2 ******** on 1 staff. Knight never said a bad word about Bliss getting into trouble at Baylor but I know he would have had plenty to say if the murder happened at UK.

Bliss worked under Knight for a few seasons at Army too, in the late 1960s. So their intertwining slime trail goes all the way back to the Johnson administration.

You’re an idiot bob knight is a great coach and a great American

Insisted players go to class and become young men of character whilst playing college ball instead of spoilt babies. I know he used some bad words and lost his temper a lot god forbid

My name is JesusCal but bob knight was god almighty. Note cal is also grossly misunderstood and misrepresented by the mainstream sports media as knight was

Remember to keep in mind that IU was the school that kept him around knowing how he treated players and people for so long. If you ask me, the school was just as culpable as Knight himself. IU is still serving their karma punishment.

You just lowered the IQ of the board 20 percent

1. Bob Knight never had any NCAA sanctions.
2. He is a loving father, known for his charitable work.
3. The few times I ran into him alone (we were not personally acquainted), I said Hi Coach and the first 2 times, he said hi back. The third, he saw me first, said hello and asked how I had been.
4. Never stripped of any Final 4's.
5. His players almost always graduated.
6. With a few exceptional years/groups of years he was forced to do more with less raw talent than UK.
7. You didn't hear anybody complaining at UK about Pitino when he was massively succesful in Lexington. Are we supposed to believe his hijinx are just a somewhat recent thing?
8. You got rid of a good, successful and moral man named Tubby Smith just because he wasn't winning at a Pitino level. He was still winning, very frequently, and by all accounts he was liked and respected by his coaching colleagues.
9. Why do people like Digger and Keady still respect him so? He and Digger are good friends.
#6 means nothing to this discussion, because no one ever really questioned his coaching ability.

#7 isn't entirely true (Pitino was never the worshipped cult figure at UK the way that Knight was at IU), and are you saying it's better to not admit that the beloved coach might have been a sh**heel (ala IU fans and Knight) despite ample evidence to the contrary, than to admit it?

#8 would carry more weight if Tubby Smith wasn't one of the highest-paid coached in the country who was not fired, but basically told that things needed to change, and then chose to take off for a cushy landing spot with a fat contract and lower expectations.

History will not be kind to Knight. His steadfast refusal to admit mistakes or apologize for anything he ever said or did effects his legacy. What were seen as character flaws in an otherwise brilliant, well-meaning coach now read as a monster ego using everything around it to feed itself.

And it's just a bad time for the idea of the troubled genius laying a path of destruction "for the greater good". Getting results just doesn't give someone an unlimited ******* pass for life.

Knight did some good things, especially for his players. He also did many bad things to those same players. So, was he a good guy, or a shitheel?
I'd have to say he is like most of us, just a guy. That makes him a shitheel who does good things from time to time. He didn't help his image by bragging about the good things he did, which is how you should be, humble. Where Knight got in trouble in his later years was where he got antagonistic with those who pointed out the wrongs. He started attacking the messengers.

As far as his not apologizing publicly for any perceived slights, like his famous "rape" comment, or the PR "rent -a-witness", he was exactly correct. In today's PC culture, apologizing is admitting that "Yes, I do still beat my wife."

I'm just curious, did this "great American" ever return to Puerto Rico to serve his six-month jail sentence for assaulting a police officer? Did he ever apologize to that guy he got into a fight with at a restaurant, or the assistant coach he kicked out of a chair and then fired, or the guy he stuffed into a trash can, or the Indiana employee that he punched out, or the secretary he launched a vase at, or all of the other countless people he assaulted over the years? What about all of the players he bullied and beat up on (especially the ones whose crotches he'd infamously grab and squeeze)?

No?

Well surely he apologized for beating up his own son on a hunting trip, right? Pat's lucky, I guess, that Coach Knight only broke his nose and messed up his shoulder instead of shooting him in the back, like he did one of his former friends. I know that Coach Knight got hit with a lawsuit over that shooting, but were charges ever filed over him lying to the police over that incident? I wonder if it was the same shotgun that Dakich said that Knight would bring to practice after his players stood up to him.
