Has Poythress made a decision?

I was off the internet all weekend. Has Poythress made a decision on stay or go? If not when must he decide by?

i am not sure of the date, but Cal has always said that his players have until the deadline set by the NBA, not the NCAA deadline

Because all signs point to him returning. He's not projected very high on many mock draft boards. He's coming off an injury and he has the opportunity to graduate and start working towards his masters.

Because:
1) Cal said he was going to talk to his parents before deciding (when the other 7 announced), and that has probably happened by now but no coming out announcement
2) Cal has recommended him to stay
3) He should (come back) since it will be tough to try out for teams w/ a knee not 100%
4) He has got to see a good opportunity to play a lot and be a key contributor next year.

Yes, he's joining the Northern KY Norse next season for his senior year.

What decision ? He has but one REAL option, return for his senior season. No NBA General Manager in his right mind would draft a kid coming off ACL surgery without 1st proving himself in live game action !

Sounds like he's coming back to me. There hasn't been any chatter to make me feel otherwise. Usually, players don't keep their intentions to leave close to the vest and news leaks out. I've heard or read nothing to make me feel he's going to be anywhere but at UK next season.

The players have a say, and the players' union has consistently balked at an extension. Personally, I'd like to see the one year limit done away with. Go back to drafting HS seniors.

Poythress already has his degree. However his best bet is to come back and show the scouts he can play and enjoy one more year at UK.

I really want Poythress to return. I think it would be in the best interest of his basketball future and without doubt the team can use him. That said, he best knows the path his recovery is taking, how the additional year of class work would serve him and what his options outside UK look like. If ever a young man deserved our patience while he considered his options, its Alex Poythress.

I agree with you. Maybe their parents should give them better advice. The priority for these kids should be getting a education and let basketball take care of itself. Just because rivals ranks you in their top 10 doesn't mean you have a NBA career ahead of you.

Poythress will be back imo but Cal did say that he had a decision to make. I did see where Booker was interviewed and he said UK would be good next year with Lee, Ulis and Poythress returning. Maybe its a sign and maybe its not.
