am cyber-acquaintances with many denizens of Six Pack. DCD, SadDawg (yay boobs and redfish!), DawgStudent, et al have done quite a bit to temper my hatred for all things maroon. While I still would resort to hurling pastoral insults at them when I fall head first off the wagon of family induced sobriety, I generally think that the Six Pack Board has allowed me to at least, in true Christ like fashion, love the sinner (MSU fan) and hate the sin (being a MSU fan).

All that being said, I am prepared to rescend any and all good tidings I have ever bestowed upon my Bulldog brethren. The sole factor in this is that I have never seen a fanbase with a bigger collective boner about a coach than they have about John Cohen as their baseball coach. He may turn out to be Connie Mack with tits, but at this point, Chinese Democracy will have suffered under the weight of less expectations than the Cohen MSU baseball era. Let it go guys. Cohen is a good coach. He's a good baseball coach. He is not the baseball equivalent of a Saturday where the kids are at the in-laws, that's kick started by a wake-up hummer, followed by a crab meat omelette, three bloody marys, a catered tailgate with grilled meats, a Rebel victory over a ranked conference opponent enjoyed under the influence of a mild sedative, a dinner at City Grocery with fourteen bottles of wine, and a toke and poke when you get home. He is a good coach. He's not Skip Bertman. He's not Augie Garrido. $@@@, with two NCAA appearances and little else, he's not much more than Pat Harrison. In hoops terms, he's Stansbury. A middle of the road guy who's sole qualification for demagoguery is that he does **** differently than the guy who went to the CWS 16 months ago.

So here we are. I have suffered through it long enough. Based on your unchecked enthusiasm over an untested coach, I !#%#*#@ hate you all again. Sorry guys. We can still be Facebook friends via the Nafoom group, but I just really needed to say that.

May your maroon sports coat clad corpse be dropped by your cowbell clanging pall bearers on your way to an early grave.

It's seems to be a normal run of the mill rivalry post. I'm as optimistic as they come when its comes to the future of MSU baseball under John Cohen, but he's right, we have yet to play a game. We could have hired Terry Francona and OM would find some way to put him down.

In my opinion this pales in comparison to DiamondReb's assertion that Bianco, while never actually going to the CWS or winning an SEC regular season title, is somehow the best baseball coach in the league.

Actual quotes about recent coaching OM hires.

Coach O - Scout.com recruiter of the year! Wild Boys!! So much more energy than Otis. I LOVE HIM!!!
Kennedy - The real Coach K. Best young coach in the league. Would not trade him for Billy Donovan.
Bianco - The best coach in the league.

But WE'RE the ones overly optimistic about Cohen.

but when has MSU ever had bumper stickers for coaches such as "A Cut Above" or "O the Coach"? Watch out for those glass houses.

is that Cohen has had roughly the same success at Kentucky as Bianco has had at Ole Miss. Ah, just think what kind of success Cohen will have with State's reasources at his disposal. That is why State fans a giddy.

Having an Ole Miss fan tell us to calm down concerning a new coach is just rich. That's right Rebs, some of us haven't forgotten all those "O the Coach" bumper stickers we saw around Jackson in the summer of 2005 or the people getting in 3 point stances at Coach O speaking engagements. Pardon me if I dimiss your outrage at our optimism concerning John Cohen, a man who had actually held down the position of head coach (unlike Orgeron who had never been anything but a position coach), given your fanbase's trackrecord.

he is suddenly held accountable for the actions or words of an entire fan base? Now, if this were about a post made by KingDiamondReb, I could understand. But, I highly doubt RHS bought into any of the lines you just came up with (other than "Eli for Heisman" - which was completely legitimate anyway).

So, has Dan Marino bought a place at Old Waverly yet?

For the record, I completely understand the enthusiasm you guys have for Cohen. I'd be excited as well. There have been some over the top mancrushy posts about him in the past several months. But, goatholder hasn't posted on either board in weeks.

I think what RHS is saying is that he's sick of watching all the man-crushes you guys have been having Cohen.

I can't dispute that a group of our fanbase has done the same over previous players/coaches. It's just annoying watching someone else do it, even though I'm sure our fans would do the same thing, especially if the new, exciting coach was a former player.

to convince himself that Cohen isnt all that great while his own HC is the deinition of mediocre. Sounds to me like the boy is so scared that his Nose, nipple and dick rings are shaking. Maybe he needs to undergo phycodelictherapy to treat his fear.

"I think what RHS is saying is that he's sick of watching all the man-crushes you guys have been having Cohen."

Being optimistic is not equivalent with having a man-crush. You see, most people don't have man-crushes. I know you've had many, but that doesn't really apply to the rest of us. We're simply happy we have a coach that sets a goal to win a national title, is willing to work hard recruiting, is willing to update our playing style, and doesn't spend his time complaining in vain about the NCAA.

there has definitely been times where i have tried to temper my excitement about cohen with some reality. it is going to take a bit longer than some think it will for him to right the ship. take shmuley for example, he can't help but exclaim "muthafu#%a" everytime Cohen does something. i am excited...but not THAT excited.

You're right about optimism not being the equivalent of having a man-crush, but a whole lot of your fans, even on this board, have been going well beyond optimism. There has been a lot of man-crushing going on over both Cohen and Byrne. I can't blame you, because they both represent a 180 change from the old guard, which leads to the type of gushing they've both received.

And yes, many of you homophobes have been man-crushing. You just don't seem to understand the meaning or the fact that you're doing it.

and some of that is just plane wrong, but none of it can really be attributed to nafoom posters. The bottom line is its a baseball discussion during football season. I don't blame you guys for talking baseball during your football season because we sure as hell did that last year.

I would agree with most of that. However, Eli went to New York and was the #1 pick in the draft. I wouldn't consider his heisman campaign a farce.

We have a guy now who has a fire in his belly to win a National Championship. We may never get there, simply because it's pretty damn hard to do. BUT, he's going to do whatever it takes to get us to that next level. We have had to suffer through Polk and LT's ******** WAY TOO LONG!! Things will be different now, I can assure you.

Polk didn't care about winning a Championship. I honestly believe he was content with just making a CWS. He cared more about fighting the NCAA than he did about building a Championship program. Cohen has gone all over the Nation trying to find players who aren't pussies, that want to win and win big. That's why we're excited, *******.

Another reason for our excitement is because of another coach on MState's campus: Coach Croom. He's made 99.9% of our fanbase apathetic to football. We will remain that way until his fat black *** is gone. We won't do very well in basketball this year because it's a rebuilding year. Therefore, we are all looking forward to baseball.

We haven't played small ball at MSU since I've been alive and our park is designed for small ball. Now, we have a coach who KB21 says cheats, because he has his players leaning into pitches to get on base, stealing the next base after getting on and then being sacrificed to the next base with a bunt. Hell, that word (bunt) was not even in Polk's vocabulary. It's a nice welcome change.

So you see, Red On The Head Like a Dick On a Dog, we're excited for the change he's bringing to the program. We're excited because Polkie Sherrill didn't get his way. We're excited because it's pretty damn awesome to go to the ballpark in the spring, cook some goot eats, drink some cold beers and watch some Bulldawg baseball with 10-12K other Bulldawg faithful. We're excited because we believe Bulldawg baseball will be King again. And soon. Maybe not this year or the next, but in 3-4 years, I expect to be at the top of the SEC.

Why do we expect that you ask? Because this is the one sport we actually care more about than other SEC fan bases do. We understand our place in football. We hope that one day changes, but we get it. We also get that baseball is the one sport where we can honestly compete for a Championship year in, year out. I know that's probably hard for you to comprehend since your baseball program just started 6-7 years ago, but we will be back on top soon. Don't be mad at us, just accept it.

Are any of you truly surprised when yet another rebel shows their true colors? Me thinks he protests too much. Apparently Cohen really does worry him. That plus he was stone/drunk or both when he wrote that pile of crap. Why is it every rebel thinks he is William Faulkner?

Hmmmmmm.......Yeah, I reckon I see his point. It's not like the Houston Dale has a God-like status there or anything. Hell, I fully expected the Rebs to build a cock-sucking booth for him during "Eli Manning Day". I'd say Reverend Kennedy and Pope Bianco were probably considered for similar rides.

Leave that **** to douches like Pongdog.

Now...back to the silly little pissing contest about whose fans base makes the most outlandish predictions.

And I especially love the "when rebels show their true colors"...very GPish.
