You have to give it to the younger hatcher, he needed to do something different so that it was his program and still didn't look like his dad's. I guess he chose defense. His dad was known for it, I guess the younger hatcher decided not to play it.

Didn't see this one coming at all. Is Harrisonburg good or was this just a disastrous game for Lee?
Harrisonburg is good, probably a top 20 4A team. They are now 10-6, with 5 of those losses coming on the road (home loss to Handley). Harrisonburg is 10-4 in their last 14 games. I'm not surprised they beat Lee, but that Harrisonburg had their highest scoring game this season with 79 points. Mayberryite said in another post that defense travels. Lee must have brought their average defense this season with them, but then left it on the bus!

Staunton News Leader Article

HARRISONBURG - Despite a 39-point effort by Darius George, Robert E. Lee came up short Thursday night, falling to Harrisonburg 79-76.

The loss dropped Lee to 13-2 on the season heading into a big game with Martinsville Saturday afternoon at Rockbridge County High School.

Lee outscored the Blue Streaks in every quarter but one, but it was a disastrous second-quarter that Lee couldn't overcome. Harrisonburg scored 32 points in the second to rally from a seven-point first-quarter deficit to lead 46-38 at the break.

Jarvis Vaughan had 13 points for the Leemen, while Jahleel Pettford finished with 11 points in the loss. Danny Dombrowski had 21 points for Harrisonburg.

Honestly, the expectation for Lee is higher than what I think they will achieve this year... The physical tools are there but they just don't have 'it' yet in my opinion. They are good and athletic, but they aren't great at this point in the year, which may be contrary to popular belief. That said, they can compete with the elite 2A teams if they put together 4 solid quarters, but that's where the trouble is right now, I don't know that this team can play at a high level all 4 quarters consistently. I hope they prove me wrong and make me look like a fool, but a 3rd place conference 36 finish would not surprise me right now, although I think a 2nd place finish is most likely.
