13 of Frost's 17 losses. I threw out the last two Ohio St games, the Minnesota game from last year, and the Michigan game from '18. We have regularly outgained and out yard/play or been basically even with our opponents and lost. Sorry, but that is coaching. Riley did something similar to this his first year, losing a bunch of close games or games where we should have won by a couple of scores. Frost has done it his entire tenure here. Poor red zone execution/play calling, poor special teams, poor clock management (struck again today), penalties, and turnovers - these are the reasons we lose games and all of them are coaching issues.

2020:

Northwestern: 88/442 5.02 yds/play vs 65/317 4.88 yds/play

2019:

Colorado: 72/469 6.51 yds/play vs 78/464 5.95 yds/play
Indiana: 73/514 7.04 yds/play vs 71/455 6.41 yds/play
Purdue: 74/375 5.07 yds/play vs 77/449 5.83 yds/play
Wisconsin: 60/493 8.22 yds/play vs 66/482 7.30 yds/play
Iowa: 79/284 3.59 yds/play vs 56/324 5.79 yds/play

2018:

Colorado: 83/565 6.81 yds/play vs 85/395 4.65 yds/play
Troy: 75/364 4.85 yds/play vs 55/253 4.60 yds/play
Purdue: 81/582 7.19 yds/play vs 79/516 6.53 yds/play
Wisconsin: 68/518 7.62 yds/play vs 72/533 7.40 yds/play
Northwestern: 82/482 5.88 yds/play vs 88/487 5.53 yds/play
Ohio St: 82/450 5.49 yds/play vs 72/481 6.68 yds/play

The clock management was fine today. Yes he could have called time out after the 1st down play with 3 minutes but that was totally a judgement call. Obviously after they didn’t get anything on 2nd down it looked bad, but it wasn’t poor clock management, IMO

You just outlined the result of the "no fear of failure" philosophy.

It leads to totally undisciplined play on both sides of the football, and keeps every single team we play in the game regardless of talent level.

That's how we end up doing things like losing two safeties in one game. Or giving CU 2018 the game at the end when we had it sewn up.

Or having JD Spielman last year calling for a fair catch inside the 5 yard line.

That's how we end up doing things like killing our first 2 drives yesterday with penalties.

That's how our 3 year starter at QB (more experience than most FCS QB's ever get in their careers) is so mentally checked out of football that he has no idea he needs to stop the clock by getting a first down instead of sliding right before half, or that you can't throw a floater into the end zone late in the play over the middle of the field into double coverage and expect it not to end up just like it did. He's not afraid to fail.

No fear of failure is working spectacularly.
