This is probably the make-or-break year. He needs to win 10 regular season games at least or there might be a mutual parting of ways.

He may want to at least ponder the notion. How long until his seat gets hot from unrealistic alumni?
They will ***** and moan plenty but in the end Harbaugh is a Michigan man and will get away with more than any other coach could. He's not in any danger at this point. Who would they get to replace him?

I certainly hope you guys do not have influence over the outcome of the husker program. Harbaugh took over a mess, won 10 games twice, played in a BCS bowl, and then was dealing with the consequences of only being able to sign 14 players his first recruiting cycle. Throw in some injuries and he still won 8 games with almost no depth. We were happy when Blo went 9-4, didn't get blown out, and could blow out the 4th best team in the pac 10...then we danced naked for a whale trophy. Michigan has put up with some absolutely garbage coaches, and didn't pull the trigger any earlier than we would have. I can't wait to see your faces when they get some depth back, which is coming next fall, he has multiple top10 classes and those will be seeing the field soon.

I think the fact that he is a great recruiter gives him a chance to stick around. I don't know that having the class that he had this year sign make some of the folks happy there as alumni. That said if he loses to Ohio State and Michigan State again this year he is going to be in very hot water.

This.

The Big Ten East has 4 of the top ten coaches in college football. Someone has to lose.

With that said, it doesn't have to be Michigan every year. He does need to win. They seem to be losing momentum.

2018 is huge.

Sounds like someone has a man crush. And the Coach before him wasn’t exactly recruiting crap. He just didn’t coach them up very well. Michigan started off strong with Jim and has now flattened out. And no, there’s nothing we can do, say or suggest. That’s for the Michigan fans and AD. Not us Husker fans. I agree, this year is a big year for them. If OSUcks and MSU owns them again and they struggle, Jim’s seat has to heat up. That or Michigan is fine with never getting back to top 10 constantly.

The media absolutely loves Michigan, all they need to do is win 3 non conference games and they will be in the top 10. The only other team that gets more undeserved love from the media is Notre Dame. I'm not bashing either school, I actually think college football is better when they have good teams.

Their offense sucked this year. Even though they had to replace nearly all their starters, they still had a very good defense. I think they're doing things to try to improve the offense. If Michigan is patient with Harbaugh, I think things are going to pay off for them.

No different than now or since 2000.
Well, we play more conference games and have a harder SOS compared to when pelini was here. Those extra cross-over games count to the division rankings (they shouldn't tho).

The BIG 12 North was garbage as was the Big 10 West.

The problem for Jimmie is that he hasn't been able to find a once in a lifetime college QB like he had at Stanford....

College Football can survive without Michigan or Notre Dame in the Top 10.

College Football has evolved well with 85 scholarships. Though it would be nice to see the ACC and SEC play 9 conference games and cut down on the FCS.

Of course, you have Baylor in Big 12 that doesn't play Power 5 programs outside the conference.

The 4 game playoff has been good, as well.

Harbaugh could never win another game at Michigan and it was still a smart hire. There was no other hotter candidate in all of coaching and he could have gone anywhere, Pro's or college, and you can't fault Michigan for signing him. I really don't see why people love to hate that guy so much, seems like a cool dude to me with a pretty good heart.

Lite, he can be all of those things and still wear his welcome out. Was he a good hire at the time, Yes probably he was, he certainly helped to stabilize to push the program back towards the top of the conference. He made a splash for sure. The trips and the social media and the recruiting stories have helped for sure.

All of that said, what is the record vs tosu? MSU? division titles? Conference titles? If Michigan wants to be what they claim to be, much like Nebraska does the same claims, if he was not a Michigan alum, would what he has done so far be enough to keep his job after this year if there is not a change to the win total vs tosu or MSU? if there is not a division or conference title? I think if he was a Stanford or North Carolina grad, or insert school, he would be on the hot seat big time. I could be wrong.

I'm sure that the alumni will tire of his sleepovers and Disney World camps after awhile if he doesn't start winning anything of substance. That and he's a total DB.

Of course he could wear his welcome out, completely different issue and that can happen to anyone, duh........and he was a GREAT hire at the time, not a "good" hire and of course if he doesn't start winning against some of those teams you mention he will be gone, there are no special rules in place for him to keep his job if he sucks at it. There are plenty of feel good Harbaugh stories out there, and none of his antics bother me in the least and I kind of snicker at people who so openly hate the guy. Makes me think of the saying "You hate him cause you ain't him". Good gawd, we had a TON of fans that thought we should "Open up the check book" and go get him, like he ever would have considered us. I don't get it, but I like snickering at those who hate him so much, seems like a waste of time though.

He was what Michigan needed then. Still think he is more hype than substance but he is what he is. We all see him differently, no worries. See him gone within 2-3 years at most. Just don't see him beating tosu while Meyer is there and MSU seems to have his number.

Trust me, I don't envy him or secretly wish I was him. I wish I could have played QB for the Huskers in 1995 or 2001. But that's cool. I snicker at those that think Harbaugh is such a great guy. I like you so I won't hold it against you. :D
