OSU has eight, Penn State has two. Were you actually trying to use that to strengthen your argument? OSU has as many in the past 15 years as Penn State does all-time.
Alot of those NC's came before the modern era, leather helmuts anyone? 1968 should have been shared with Penn State, 2002 NC game against Miami was handed to OSU on a referee blunder, even last year you have to question because of the refs in the OSU-PSU game? One of Woody Hays Number 1 teams got hammered in 1964 at home to PSU 27-0. Until Paterno got old in 2000 PSU was winning the all time series so what are you talking about?

Up until Joe got old starting in 2000 PSU had the upper hand in the all-time series so what are you talking about? Now that a level playing field is soon approaching lets see how the OSU- PSU series plays out? You know damn well an "old" Joe Paterno was over his head, now that we have competent young coaches let's see what happens?
From 1993 though 2000, Ohio State won 5 of the 8 matchups.

Penn St did have a 4-0 lead before the 70s , but since the 70s OSU has a 16-8-1 edge.
So drop that Paterno got old in 2000 BS

If you want to count the leather helmut days than PSU has 4 NC's plus 1968, 1969, and 1994 when we got screwed, so how good of a PSU fan are you when you dont even know the history?

Lotta woulda, coulda, shoulda in there, don't ya think?

You keep harping on the 2000 thing. If Paterno was so old that he couldn't do the job, then he should have gotten the hell out of the way. Him remaining as the HC doesn't negate those losses.

In all seriousness, you should stick to posting in the think tank.

What's funny is that Paterno was 5-6 against OSU prior to 2000. He is using Rip Engle's stats to come to his conclusion. Typical Paterno supporter mathematics.

Mudge ,It looks like you failed to recognize that Penn St's first 4 victories over Ohio St was before Paterno became the Nit HC.
Don't be talking about others with your diddlysquat knowledge of Penn St's football history:chairshot:

You sound like one of the posters on Hineygate? I'm willing to bet you are an OSU fan growing up in Ohio and just went to school at Penn State? How on earth could you be a moderator on a PSU site?

When all else fails , post a false accusation trying to hurt the creditability of someone making you look like a fool .

Don't worry mudge, you don't need any help looking like an idiot to the members of Scarlet Nation
, you are doing a splendid job of doing that all on your own..[banana]

The 1990's were 5-4 in OSU's favor off the top of my mind

Well that's weak? You and I both know Paterno was to selfish and politically powerful to retire on his own. I wanted Paterno out of State College years ago.

The only reason I know of you is that you constantly rip PSU fans over here and for some unknown reason I noticed your handle over at BWI.

I see some other PSU folks are lurking ITT. My opinion on certain things and a certain portion of the PSU fanbases never changes. Whether I am posting on BWI, here, tMB or having a conversation in the RV lot, I always have the same viewpoint.

PSU didn't win 4 in the 90s, 3 was all it won.
Yeah like I said it was just from memory, 4-3 in favor of OSU in the 1990's, real domination. Look at it in reverse, what if Woody Hays coached many years past his prime and would not resign and continually lost to PSU over a decade? What would you expect to happen? Joepa was way in over his head.

The irony is that if this thread had the exact same posts & content, but the authors were from here instead of PSU fans, then this thread would probably have been deleted a while ago because "we have too many PSU threads" and "the OP discussion point has been derailed" ... but alas, it stays.

@Mudge1026 the sampling size is not that large but it looks like I was off base regarding OSU considering PSU a rival. I tagged you in the thread so you could see the responses.

Ohio State won its first NC in 1942 and the AP only started awarding a National Championship Trophy in 1936. Not exactly Michigan winning title's in the 1800's.

Rivalries, like everything, mean different things to different people. Michigan and OSU will both each consider the other their rival and I'm convinced nothing will change that during my lifetime. No matter how good MSU gets, and no matter how much MSU considers Michigan their #1 rival, Michigan will never be the same. Same goes for PSU with OSU.

Michigan / Minnesota play for the little brown jug and is considered a rivalry, but I don't think the players get charged-up for that game more than any other conference game. Same with the OSU / Illinois rivalry for the Illibuck.

PSU used to have yearly games with Pitt and WVU. They have played Pitt 96 times, and they have played WVU 59 time. Pitt is only 130 miles away, and WVU is only 180 miles away. Coming into the B1G and no longer playing Pitt and WVU, they lost those rivalries and never found a new one in the B1G b/c the good teams already had rivals that they had been playing for decades. You can't just manufacture a rivalry.

So PSU was stuck in no man's land where they don't play their traditional rivals and don't have a rival in their own conference after 20+ years in the B1G. The addition of Rutgers presents the perfect opportunity for this to develop. 1 - neither school currently has a rival that they play on a yearly basis. 2 - they are in close proximity, 230 miles. 3 - they go after many of the same recruits. 4 - there are many NJ residents who go to PSU for school and return to NY/NJ to work so there is a good chance that RU alumni are dealing with PSU alumni all the time. I mean the NJ MVC has its own license plate for PSU alums. All we need now is - 5 - some late-season games where the B1G East title is in play and we'll have a rivalry. Forget past history, when the games start being played at the end of the year (starting next year) if they are meaningful games then it will naturally become a rivalry.

The only people who think PSU and OSU are rivals are delusional PSU fans. I live in OH. No one over here gives a crap about PSU - we are a complete afterthought.
I applaud this fan of the Pennsylvania State University for offering a fact based viewpoint counter to the party line.

I hope all the followers of Dear Leader don't ban him from Pyongyang.

They camp for every home game. This one happens to be a week long. I don't care what anyone says....the Rutgers game is a big deal in Happy Valley
Yes, I really don't care if or when they camp. But as someone who has done my share of cold nights under canvas anybody can do one day. But when you start stringing 'em together that gets tough. But if you were the fan base of an "Unrivaled" team you would think they could muster the fortitude to do it for the alleged big game. And don't make a big deal about sleeping under the stars during early fall. Is it politically incorrect to call that "Indian Summer"?
