Happy Orthodox 12th Night!!!

Today is 12th Night for Orthodox Christians who celebrate Christmas on January 7th. Since my Mom was Orthodox, the Gambits are celebrating, albeit privately. Our outdoor Christmas lights are ablaze in 6 inches of snow and our indoor tree still enchants us. Merry Christmas to all and may God Bless us, every one.

Fairgambit: Happy holidays and God Bless you and your family. I absolutely love the picture. Even though it’s several centuries removed it reminds me of my family holiday parties during the late 60’s early 70’s. A time when my grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins….would get together for a few wonderful days in December. 🎄

Yes. Our family gatherings were much larger in those days. Everyone lived closer together. Through the years so many have moved out of state and, starting with my generation, even those who stayed have not kept close family ties. It's a shame but it's a different world today and I will admit, as much as I value family, I have a much better time entertaining my friends.

You’re right, it is a shame as I have a similar situation regarding a distant and dwindling family and good friends who we really enjoy their company.
