Hagans-haters happy now?

Exactly. A significant part of the comeback happened with Immanuel Quickley fouled out of the game. Does anyone think that we’re therefore better without Quickley? Of course not. That would be dumb.

I could not be happier that we won. After the UT debacle, we badly needed a win like this to get everyone’s minds right.

But we were worse without Hagans today, much worse, and that should be pretty obvious to anyone who watched.
Yes. We were worse on both ends if the floor without Ashton. Coming back from 18 down in the second half in Gainesville with him would have been impressive. Finding a way to do it without him shows why this team can be Final Four good. Doing it without IQ is miraculous. I literally said in the timeout before his last foul that the only way we have a chance at winning is for him to get hot and hit 3-4 threes. Juzang, Brooks, Richards, and even EJ showed their value in the last 10 minutes. Amazing finish!

Yay!!! Team is finally unlocking its potential without Hagans’ negativity and turnovers! It’s the best blowout loss ever!

McPwn just got pwned. Hagans has been a liability for the past month or so. His 5+ TO's a game, 2-3 jacked up bricks from 3 early in the shot clock, inability to hit layups and bad attitude fully offset his assists and occasional (overrated) defense. We can win without him.

As @TurnipDaBeet posted earlier - we run Maxey at the point a few months ago, we are a better team.

No. It’s still a stupid hill to die on. We are far better with Hagans than without. I don’t know his physical health, but when he’s at 100%, he is one of the best players on the team, if not the best.
He’s good. 3rd or 4th best player on the team when physically and mentally healthy. But he’s not better than Nick or IQ. Don’t even try to argue that.

My first interaction with the OP was in a thread where he was ridiculing our own fans based on the type of footwear he assumed they were wearing.

Hagans absence was a positive; Cal was forced to play Juzang and Brooks and now we have two more options who have confidence going forward. It also sent a very important message to everybody.
If Hagans comes back, Cal’s going to have a challenge to balance their playing time. Going to be a delicate balancing act for Cal.

I understand and agree with what you are saying except that I would say it differently. I wouldn’t say his absence was a positive but rather that there was a positive result in spite of his absence. More so a silver lining on a dark cloud than a sunshiny day itself.

My emotions are in check. You have your pick of many to argue with so go that route. You are just too, too easy. I feel I am dueling with an unarmed man.

Hate to state it but "you be" wrong....

More definitely Morsuperiorsky...

so we lose to a bad UT team at Rupp and Hagans is arguing with the coach, we win against Florida on the road without Hagans

and this is supposed to show that Hagans is vital to the team

look, like others have said, we have Hagans playing his best ball, we're a much better team. We have Hagans causing dysfunction and costing us buckets, we may still *need* Hagans, but we aren't going to go far with him.

March 7 and we don't know what Hagans will contribute? Not good optics for our future or him as a team player.

We struggled defensively. They killed us driving the ball. Hagans would have slowed that down a ton.

I just want to add a tidbit to this amazing thread: I’m not a fan of what Hagans has shown, but we NEED him to win a title. Period. I ultimately think he plays a large role in our demise, but I hope to god I am wrong. Maybe he’s learned that buying into team ball will be what’s best for not only the team, but for him as well.

Loved seeing Brooks, Sestina, and Juzang do well today. They combined for 29 points and hopefully built some much needed confidence at the right time. As always under Cal, flaws or not, I cannot wait for the tournament to start.

Jesus you’re desperate for attention, and weird. Also a liar. Unless you have proof.

The fact that you are lying about having liked that post and saying you didn't says all I need to know about you. Not only are you a miserable poster, you're a dishonest person. Wow. At least @morgousky took his medicine. You get kicked all over the place by other posters all the time, so I'll just watch and laugh.

That was an amazing ugly win against a so-so team. I mean it was all heart, but to think we are better without Ashton makes me question what game some of you watched. We looked out of sorts for most of the game and won on pure heart and fight. A better team would have had us down 30 with how we played the first 30 minutes.

Maxey at the point LMFAO. He went 1-11, that's worse than Ashton. He wasn't able to be Maxey running the point. It took away one of our best scorers having him there. Ashton has been in a rut there's no arguing that, but this team looked like **** and won because they out gutted the gators and wanted it more. I expected them to fight coming off a loss, I didn't think we would go down 19 to FL. People are blasting Ashton for the TN game, but what about the other 24 wins where he played 30+ minutes a game?

This is a team and we need all 8 guys to do anything. Ashton is the easy scapegoat because he hadn't been playing well on offense and then talked back to the coach. His D will be needed when we go up against the best of the best PGs in the Tourney. He's disruptive and clearly our leader. 1 win without him doesn't change that. It might not be the popular pick right now, but I think we need Ashton. I'm so proud of how these guys stepped up today and got the win, but to go anywhere in the Tourney we need all 8 of them and Ashton running the show. We will be playing a lot better teams than an FL team without Blackshear. Great gutsy win, but Maxey 1-11 when he had been really scoring well, no thanks.

If he didn't practice this week like Cal said he's not playing anymore. That's what worries me is if he didn't he won't be on the team by Monday I bet

Get ready for some BIG news I guess and hoping I'm wrong

I jsut don't see how it can be denied. I can't prove it honestly, but I think we lose the game today with Hagans.

The team started slow because they're playing in different roles they're not used to. But once they started to feel it, they took off and beat a good Florida team on the road.

Hagans is important because with him distributing we become a totally different team. But he rarely will, especially when we're trying to put teams away.

Juzang and Brooks don't get those minutes to bring us back without Foul trouble and Hagans playing. How anyone looks past it is beyond me. And I fear when Hagans comes back Cal will revert back to worrying about other things.

OP is like one of those Japanese dudes fighting on an island after WW2 because they don't know the war is over and the good guys won.

Like I said earlier, we’re a better team with good Hagans. Good teammate Hagans. We’re not a better team with the Hagans that got HIS OWN *** suspended by being selfish and a pouty, awful teammate. Us winning today is the best thing that could’ve happened, because it showed we can do it without him. Get on board or go home, boss.

Today was awesome, don't get me wrong...but if the expectation is to get close to 30 out of Juzang, Brooks and Sestina on a nightly basis to win please temper expectations.

This was important because it allowed these guys to gain confidence and minutes. I was very encouraged by Brooks and Juzang...really a lot by Brooks. Hopefully it leads to improved consistent play.

Getting Hagans back in the fold and back to his prior form is critical.

Simply, if he is and does we can win the title.

If he doesn't and/or we are relying on what we have without him, I'm skeptical we get out of first weekend.
