I would bet he improved his draft position by at least 10 with his performance in the CWS.

The CWS helped Bednar tremendously from an intangible standpoint. He got to show his competitiveness and prove that the biggest stage in baseball outside of the MLB playoffs was not too big for him.

Bednar’s stuff is really good but no one in this draft has proven more from a competitiveness and intangible standpoint than him.

Hate to say it, but no one lost more in the draft in the same amount of time than Macleod. Really wish he’d go to the Cape and give it one more try. A lot to risk, but a ton to potentially gain.

His competitiveness on the mound during the CWS really helped. But Bednar's size, makeup, and stuff, plus the fact that he has a brother in the show who's probably less talented than he is....all those things combine to project a very low risk pick - even at 14. There are so many picks that don't make it.....and knowing what you know about Bednar, he's virtually a lock to get there if he stays healthy.

Projections are just that…projections. It only takes one team to like a guy in any particular spot.

Giants took him early because they believe he will sign under the slot value, thus giving them more money to spend in later rounds.

That remains to be seen. They may have just liked him in that spot….he was projected anywhere from 20-32 so its not a huge leap for him to be the top guy on their board for starting pitchers.

He showed things in his CWS games not on stat sheets or scouting reports and he did it in front of big crowds in the biggest games for college ball.

The man feeds off the big moment energy and improves his game the bigger the moment it seems. You just don't see that often. Repeated again and again. Maybe one big game by a pitcher but not 3 or 4 in a row. Killer instinct.

I would love to see him come back. He was very good for most of the year. I think his issue was primarily that he just wore down physically by the end of the year. I'm sure that is BY FAR the longest season he has ever had to pitch through in his life and I think arm weariness got to him. Some of our idiot 'fans' on social media definitely didn't help the cause though on him wanting to return.
