After a day of reflection, St. John's coach Mike Jarvis
apologized for comparing the situation surrounding the ineligibility of Erick
Barkley to a rape. In comments made after St. John's 59-58 victory over Boston
College on Saturday, Jarvis angrily denounced the NCAA for forcing St. John's
to declare the sophomore point guard ineligible for that game because of a
possible violation of NCAA rules involving Barkley's use of someone else's car.
Jarvis said Saturday that the situation left him feeling as though "someone
came in my house and raped me."
