Serious question... How do refs decide how they're gonna call a game? Do they get together beforehand and say "What do you guys want this game to be like? What the hell, let's make these guys fist-fight for it."

"Hey, this game why don't we just go nuts, foul out all the stars, and make it about us?"

Is it really that hard to just have consistency in officiating? To not have to wonder if today's game is gonna just be a different sport entirely? This is a different sport than every other game we've played this season. Who made that decision?
