It's as if Herro needs to make one in transition before he's confident enough to rise and fire from 3. No transition = no Herro apparently.

Joel Justus has a head that should never be shaved... and the stubble that suggests it doesn't need to be.

This has nothing to do with anything else.

We got a ton of "dudes" that can just dominate. This feels like the type of team that will simply have to be outplayed in order to lose a big time game.

Was Quade cancer or something?

I think it forced Cal to **** or get off the pot over Quade/IQ/Hagans. We bitched about him not figuring out the rotation earlier than the Duke game and Green proved we were right.

I love the guy but he still needs to figure out when EJ has no business eating Nick's minutes. I feel like for every stolen start Richards had last year he is missing out on minutes he deserves this year. I get not wanting a guy to transfer but EJ is clearly unsure of what his role is.

~ Kansas mucked this game up as much as possible, which I guess is the only way they could win. Have to love that this team can win playing fast, slow, or ugly. Bodes well for post-season play.

~ This is turning into one of Cal's best defensive teams. The emergence of Herro as a lock-down off-ball defender is a game-changer for this team.

~ 50 rebounds (+14) :eyes:

~ Hard to see why Cal is giving EJ Montgomery so much run over Nick Richards.

~ Kansas ain't wining the Big 12 this year....

Hagans has transformed this team...the ball pressure we can now put on the perimeter makes us pretty good defensively. We can win games when we shoot poorly.

Herro has become a really good off ball/denial defender as well as Keldon. Quickley is decent as well.

...and this is why you bring in Reid Travis, what a first half.

I like my team.

I was not a believer tonight, I was sure we were going to blow it up until the last couple of minutes, but even so, I was loving Travis looking like a Mac truck. Even more I was loving Herro’s smothering defense, and he wasn’t the only one. I really think that might be the best defense I have seen from this team all season.

What a win! Even better because my team showed me!

Quade's offense could not even come close to making up for his defense and decision making. The PAC whatever it is now suits him.

* 49-36 on the glass. Yes!

* 5-0 vs. currently ranked teams since the Duke game.

* First time beating ranked teams in 3 consecutive games since January 2003.

* First game with 3 double doubles (Johnson, Travis, Washington) since 2010 (Cousins, Patterson, Wall).

* Kansas IS winning the Big 12. It's the Big 12, after all. Not sure who's good enough to take it from them this year.

* Killer second half defense. Had to feel good being down just 3 at half when the shooting was that bad. Auburn notwithstanding, the defense in conference play since the last loss has been outstanding. And even Auburn had more to do with them hitting tough shots than poor defense on Kentucky's part. They're still the worst defensive team Kentucky has had under John in terms of FG%, at least through the first 18 games, but those numbers are a little misleading because of how dreadful they were to start.

* Somebody on here said that we'd have one of those crappy Tuesday night road games where the whistles weren't going right and the bangs were flopping left and right, and that's when Reid Travis would will the team to win. I still think that will happen before the end of the season, but it was good for Travis to do it in this game too.

* 3 straight baller games from PJ Washington.

* The key for John going forward is to convince the guys that everybody is ranked. These are big game dudes right now and it's human nature to relax after a run like this.

* On the subject of KS Bar, did anybody in the area go to trivia night on Wednesday? Saw the winning team with cash on the timeline and I'm thinking about going this week if everything works out with the work schedule.

It's a good day to have a good day.
