This team is providing the ability to adapt to different styles of play. Cal’s one of the best at that development, which I believe is a big reason his squads so rarely get upset in March.

-chad is correct. In order of hate:

1. Uavel-moved to #1 during pitinos time there. Were largely insignificant to me as a youth.
2.UNC-sanctimony/actual challenge to UK historical numbers.
3. IU- used to be #1. Need to play them again.
4. Duke-UCONN durham campus
5. UCLA-wooden was a cheating bastard.
6. KU-rivals Kentucky's history.

-UNC, IU, UofL, Duke, Kansas. IU/UofL have flip flopped several times over the years depending on the current nature of their program.

-We really need to get back to basics on post entry. Some of this falls on the post man as well, but overall it's putrid.

-For being an experienced player with an overall good feel for basketball, Travis has really poor court vision when he has the ball in the post. Slow to realize doubles, and never really looks for PJ -- a few obvious plays yesterday where the little lob was there.

-Nice to see EJ hit a jumper. He showed some flashes yesterday, and he's pretty adept at using a few dribbles to get somewhere and beat his man...but he NEVER finishes with a dunk, and needs to.

-Really like what Quickley has rounded into. His jumper is so sweet and compact, and he's a sneaky good defender as well. He doesn't try to do too much, which is a nice compliment to the risky/attacking Hagans. His handle still concerns me, it's extremely weak for a 5* PG.

-PJ was as active overall as he's been in a long *** time, good to see. He really can do it all, and needs to do more of it.

-Tomlin insists Archie is on the hot seat. :joy: That fanbase is in shambles right now. If they miss the dance w/ Romeo & Morgan (who are both gone), shew wee. :eyes: Stealing Brooks would be incredible.

-Line predictions for Saturday? Cats -3.5

* The encouraging thing is that it was a pretty average performance by the guys, lots of turnovers, lots of teachable moments, and still a 21-point win over a ranked opponent. That's an attribute of the best Kentucky teams, a really good sign going forward.

* And it's the first time they've had a win like this when PJ Washington was the best player in the game. There's a classic story about Bill Belichick when he was with the Giants and planning for the Bills in the Super Bowl, he said that the key to the Giants winning the game was for Thurman Thomas to rush for over 100 yards. The focus was dedicated to slowing down the passing game, they did, and they won. Kentucky's best performances this season have been when the best players in the games were the guards, and I think it will stay that way, but it's another good sign that the team can have a game like that when PJ plays like that. Like that like that like that.

* Nick Richards' per-40 numbers...probably pretty good. Resigned to the fact that there are just going to be some opponents where John won't let him see the floor. Saturday feels like one without Azubuike in the mix. But at least Nick is getting as much out of the minutes as he is.

* Alabama SHOULD be a problem. Taking raw talent into account, they're a top 15 team. Although Tevin Mack is something like 2 out of his last 30 from three since the Kentucky game. No real surprise there.

* I wonder who the worst non-PAC 12 power 5 is this year. Thought about that after looking at Wake Forest. 8 of their 10 losses are by double figures and the other 2 losses are to Gardner-Webb and Houston Baptist. That's incredibly bad.

* Texas Tech is so bad on offense I'm waiting for Rob Dobster and his ilk to write columns about how they're actually good on offense and us common folk are too stupid to understand why.

I think everyone pretty much conceded Mack to Louisville once Pitino's troubles started. Even when he'd be on lists for other jobs, I remember seeing comments about him holding out for UL.

Kind of baffling that Gregg Marshall has never taken a better job. Don't know if it is on his end or if schools have some weird hesitations about him, but he's an incredible coach.

His team absolutely sucks this year. If I were an AD at a power 5 conference team that isn't truly elite, I'd be throwing the bank at this guy in the offseason.

He’s perfect for Indiana- all the way down to the hatred UK and Purdue fans would have for him.

I would love to see Herro's splits on 3 pointers when a bounce is involved :fire: vs. a straight catch & shoot. Fatguy or any of you lurkers have synergy or fancy analytics subs? Harmon used to, but he doesn't this year.

Interesting piece on the power of Netflix, regarding 'You'. Turns out the the show was on the Lifetime network (which makes sense why it's so cheesy), nobody watched, and it was cancelled. Move to Netflix -----> huge hit.

The series had premiered on Lifetime in September, but its viewership was virtually nonexistent: roughly 650,000 people were tuning in to each episode of the soapy stalker thriller, starring Penn Badgley. Even Mr. Berlanti, one of the most successful and prolific producers in television thanks to shows like “Riverdale,” “Arrow” and “Blindspot,” conceded in an interview that “barely anybody watched” it.

Last week, Netflix declared “You” had drawn the sort of audience to make it a “huge hit.” The streaming service said that “You” was on track to be watched by 40 million households within its first four weeks on the service.

Maybe I missed it, did @PTI (pti) have an opinion on Mariano Rivera being the first unanimous 1st ballot HOF'er?

Only that he made too much money the last portion of his career, and he should have been traded for someone that the A's and Billy Beane groomed with their analytical prowess. Either that or he should have never played for fear of the line drive off the noggin and the potential for CTE. You know...pti's usual baseball ignorance.

Re: Gregg Marshall, isn't he already making $3M+/yr? In Wichita? With a spouse who has questionable alcohol tolerance? His current situation might not be bad for him.

Nothing exemplifies baseball more than the ridiculous drama associated with who a bunch of sportswriters elect into the HOF. Who gives a touch and why the hell do you care anyway unless you’re the actual player yourself.

Do you know who got in the football and basketball HOF this year? Who gives a ****, that’s who.

Well Ron, it matters to me dammit! I'm not losing sleep on it, but it's a somewhat interesting topic. However, everything went out the window when Harold effing Baines made the HOF.

Need to send MAGA Kid down to diffuse the situation imo

Which, by the way, when did everyone forget that the word "defuse" exists, and is the more appropriate term for situations such as this. (I realize the kid used "diffuse" in his written statement). Happens all the time, and you rarely see "defuse" used anymore.

Speaking of word-nerding, one of my favorite games to play with myself (wife) is to find some obscure word and see how many times I can work it into conversation with her on a given day before she asks me wtf I'm doing using that word & tells me to stop. I average about 2.4, but occasionally get to 4 or even 5 if I can keep a straight face and not bust myself laughing.

This is a real post. :sunglasses:
