Smooth twenty point win over a ranked opponent during a mid-week potential trap game. Don't look now but we're one of the hottest teams in the country and Kansas is on the way to Rupp. :eyes::basketball::fire:

Montgomery had some nice moments in 2nd half as well, him and Richards being able to provide 10 solid minutes will be huge.

Hoosier fans are probably thrilled, they HATE Green. Pretty similar relationship bbn had with Quade tbh, only worse.

First half was a bunch of wasted opportunities, terrible turnovers, and awful shot selection and execution from MSU. Much of the red *** was from that.

Finally pulled away, but let’s not act like it was some polished, complete victory.

(Though the momentum-killing mass substitutions in the first half was, in the moment, aggravating and pointless.)
He's uncanny with that ****.

Granted my oh-hell-no lineup is Montgomery/Richards and they came in and stopped the guards from scoring in the lane.

I get the 2nd half bitching. We got lazy on both sides. Started going through the motions. Props to Cal for benching those dudes. Obviously, worked because when they came back in, MSU was tired, and we just put it on them. Great luxury.

State's size caused some issues for us tonight. We aren't the biggest or uber skilled so it proved to be a challenge.

Still, an outstanding performance overall. I love seeing Herro find his stroke. Heck, I'm getting to the point where I'm disappointed when PJ passes up open 3's.

I like my team.

Do 18-year olds really get excited about Jay Z? He’s 49 years old.

Not sure if his ownership in the Nets makes his sports agency not be able to target basketball players, but if it doesn’t I’m sure 18 year olds have more reason to be excited over Jay-Z than just rap.

Eric Clapton was about 50 when I was a freshman in high school. Doctor J was about 45. I thought both of them were dinosaurs, and neither of them would be influential to a 15-year old Wayne Dougan or any of my buddies. I assume black teens would feel the same way about 49-year old Jay-Z.

Hard to blame Hagan's for anything but whenever he picks up his dribble early is when the offense seems to stagnate, turnovers happen, etc.. Other than somebody getting trapped in the corner of course.

At the UGA game Hagans' dad was standing behind the basket by one of my buddies kids. Apparently an obnoxious drunk UGA fan was jaw jacking and the dad finally had enough and told him that if his kid wasn't on the floor he'd take him outside and whip his ***. Drunk guy shut up after that.

"Hagan's" gets the possessive apostrophe but "buddies" doesn't? o_O

Always funny to look back at in-game redass after a 20 point win against a ranked opponent. Every single person has been guilty of it at some point.

Thoughts after looking at the box score:

* I am strangely pissed that EJ Montgomery got more minutes than Nick Richards. Both were pretty good last night, actually. I really wish Cal would pick one to be his reserve big man and ride with it and use the other guy for fouls.

Montgomery has more talent in the short term but Richards is starting to find a role and is playing to his strengths. I was *super* pumped to see him beat everyone down the floor to get a transition dunk off the assist by Herro. And, of course, that play was started by a Montgomery block so maybe there is hope for playing them together.

* Hard to believe that this team has already played 18 games... and is 15-3. After the Bahamas, the Duke beating shook Big Blue Nation.

It feels like we are just starting to get to know this squad.

* Tyler Herro is the leader in minutes played on the year. For a guy who everyone expected to be a deadeye shooter, that's pretty damn impressive given his shooting problems thus far.

How long did it take Dickie V to remind us that we don’t have a superstar on our team?

- Herro’s 3pt % is climbing- 35.6% now. Dude needs to be firing 6-8 threes a game.

- Larry Johnson? :joy: Awful comp.

- Tennessee’s schedule is pretty favorable over the next month- could be coming into Rupp Feb. 16 as a 23-1 #1 squad.

- I appreciate a UK fan who loathes Indiana, and hates UNC more than they do Duke. Tells me I’m dealing with a true fan.

- Bama is becoming a situation. Lots of talent and some explosive parts.

- Kansas should be a game Travis can score in. I also like Hagans harassing their guards. Need to keep Vick from going off and keep throwing our bigs at Lawson. I think we match up VERY well with them and Rupp should be bananas.

CBB randoms...

-Gregg Marshall has been pretty picky when it comes to Power Five jobs, and now it's biting him a bit. Lost in the first round to Marshall last year, and 8-10(1-5 in the AAC) so far this season. The guy knows what he's doing, but you can only maintain that level of excellence at a place like WSU for so long. He needs to make the jump ASAP, if there's a jump to make.

-Brad Brownell misses on Zion and loses 10 games, so of course Clemson gives him a 6-year, 12.5 million extension. And like clockwork, he's 1-4 in ACC and will probably lose about six more. Amazing how many college FB/BB coaches do JUST ENOUGH on the hot seat to earn an extension, then turn right around and remind everyone why they were on the hot seat to begin with.

-Here comes Nova. Finally settling into roles, and even Cremo is hitting shots. If that guy gives them 2-3 3's a game, and doesn't try to do too much more, they'll be a really tough out, especially if Quinerly keeps up his streak of not throwing the ball all over the place.

-Always seems to be one team each year that hangs around the Top Ten through January or so, and then completely falls off the map. Notre Dame did it last year, but that was due to injury. Texas Tech looks like this year's suspect. Nothing on offense besides Culver.

-Man, I wish we hadn't missed out on that Jaxson Hayes kid. Averaging something like 15/6 in Big 12 play, and getting better every time out. Shooting 75 percent from the field. Would be nice to have a big who can finish like that, instead of it being a crapshoot nearly every time.
