We do a trip each December for “our Christmas” and usually some sort of home improvement or larger purchase that we agree on. Her idea initially & 8 years running since - will definitely continue this HUGE MISTAKE.

Almost forgot. Our other gift to each other this year was $700 in clothes & accessories for Bob’s wedding.
My in-laws texted my wife to let us know the entire family up there was throwing up and we shouldn't risk bringing the kids into it.
So instead of spending five hours in a car with two toddlers driving through Ohio today, we dropped the kids off at daycare and spent the entire day with zero obligations to anyone.
Now I'm chilling on the couch watching football while I rehydrate. Merry Christmas to me.

We've typically always been abroad or on some type of trip over Christmas, so gifts to each other are either the trip itself or something related to it. Its much easier that way. This year since we stayed put, we opted to get something for our upcoming trips... wife received a very nice upgrade on luggage, and tickets to show, among other things. I got a nice weekender bag, and a new pair of Allbirds.
We also get cash from both sets of parents, which my wife says "i'll go ahead and put that in my purse so we dont leave it" and I never see it again so I also consider that a gift to her from me.
My father-in-law gave me a 9mm and a Dewalt drill.
I've enjoyed not traveling over the break, but I think we will pick up that tradition again next year. Its just a nice end of the year break and both of our jobs are shut down from about the 20th to the 2nd- so its easier to take advantage.

My wife and I tried the “let’s not get each other gifts” a few years back. She still doesn’t follow through but I have not bought her a present in a few years or so. You have to stick to your guns.
Besides, all the nice stuff I’d buy for a present, she already has a better version of it.
We will probably hit up a night at the Omni in January and I’ll parlay that into a Valentines Day present.

Up until Saturday thought for sure Mack's coming out party to the River City / CBB world was a forgone conclusion. Funny how manhandling an arch rival quickly vanquishes that silly idea.
Feel360 Washington Nationals socks and a bottle of Old Fo Birthday were the highlights under the tree.
Watching little rug rats open gifts is the best. A certain gleam in their eye at 4 & 7 that fades when the harsh realities of life greet them in a few years.
Speaking of, nephew got a PS4 and I quickly realized that it takes more than up, up, down, down, left, right, B, A start to be any good at today's games.

Even with them all vomiting, still sounds like a win for the in-laws.
Working these 3 days is a pro move. The office is almost empty, and in most areas of work there’s little to nothing going on. Took a 15 minute nap at my desk today with the door wide open.
The clutch move is to take off a couple days BEFORE Christmas. Allows you to do all the last minute errands (there’s always several), plus you get to go two whole weeks without seeing your ******* coworkers by the time they get back to work in Jamuary.

Our office is closed Christmas Eve through New Years and we “make it up” on our timesheets over the first quarter. Nice lil perk, IMO.
I played the hero and attended the weekly meeting for a building under construction this morning. The head construction manager bought his wife a portable scaffold for Christmas because she is always painting at their rental properties. He said when he wheeled it in for the reveal she was not impressed. That is an alltime misjudged spousal gift IMO. Had to be hilarious for his adult children.

I have a Miele Dog & Cat canister and it has been one of the best purchases of the last 5 years.
Imagine how many vacuums Sloot would have if her house floors weren’t 100% wood and tile.
- Bose wireless headphones and a bottle of Pikeville Rye were my prized gifts. Wife got new cookware and some Pandora bracelet charms. And a Shark vacuum she essentially bought for herself from her mother.
- Everybody picking Penn State over Kentucky. Feels like an early season game when nobody was picking us, we got a chip on our shoulder, and we flat dominated the game. I think we're going to come out and prove everybody wrong. Again.
- We roll Louisville. Double digit win.
- Kevin Spacey likely kills himself before he ever sets foot in a prison cell. That video he posted the other day was strange AF.
- The Wizards are a disaster this year. John Wall needs to be traded to a contender.

* Evidently kids these days are obsessed with vintage and hard to find Nike shoes. My ex co-worker has two teens and they even go to huge shows where vendors set up and sell their custom/high end/antique kicks. A local skateboard shop here got an exclusive Nike shoe made in a highly limited quantity and people waited in line for the release, where they sold out immediately.
Really gives me a lot of faith in America’s future.

Uh...you run 100 miles or more up mountains to see the Dalai Lama or talk to Ghandi's ghost. At least I know the Nike's are bringing value to the local economy.
