I legitimately thought Antoine was Shaq when I glanced at the TV the first time he was on the SEC Network a couple years back. Feel bad for the guy tbh

I'm just happy he has a steady job that he seems to enjoy.

An update on my stupid writing challenge I told you all about (writing 50,000 words - or about 200 pages - in a month). I'm sitting at about 48,200 with two days to go so - assuming I don't die in the next two days - it's gonna happen. Which shocks the hell out of me because I'm fantastic at not following up on stuff.

What I've written is an incredible piece of **** and will require months of editing, but at least it's written. I don't know what it is and who it's for - it may never see any eyes but mine - but it's been a heck of an experience. I would encourage anyone who's ever thought about writing something to try it at least once.

We’ve reached peak CUADINALZ - someone threatened Trinity because of the Brohm decision. That’ll learn ‘im.

It's one thing to be a super douche and wear a line beard on purpose, but its another thing to threaten my alma mater. Joke or not, throw that MFer in jail for a few days.

-Gotta be a real sack of **** to hate on Walker. Not only a all-time great that brought us a title but his story is just brutal and he's obviously been humbled and as UCL said seems happy. Couldn't be happier for that guy. One of my favs.

-680 was pretty solid. According to Blankenbaker, Brohm is just 1 notch below Saban/Urban. The guy that has gone 6-6 and 6-6. Look I think the guy is going to be good but that's insanity.

-BBdk nailed it. I'm just tired of watching these last 2 teams. It's just a grinding, frustrating, annoying brand right now. That has to be the players he brought in more than anything b/c 2016 was fun as hell 90% of the season. But damn, how do you make a 50pt blow out agonizing?

-Quade, Herro, Johnson, Washington, Montgomery, Travis, Quickley, Richards, Hagans.

-Green gets no respect b/c he's not a great defender. BTW, he's better this year. However, he gets us in transition by far the best, is a great shooter, understands offense, etc. I'll take his upside all day compared to the alternative.

-Cal's sub patterns have annoyed me the entire time. There's always 2 guys that should never play at same time and he routinely gets them in together. He also ALWAYS pulls the hot hand out as soon as he can for a limited offensive team.

-GTech open. Talk about a good job. Low expectations and high available talent.

-Trinity is by far the douchest of the Lou schools. Just being honest.

I’m not sure how anyone can categorize Georgia Tech as a good job. It’s an inner city, academic first STEM school with no facilities that’s light years behind its bigger in state “rival.”

Oh, and half your team was recruited specifically to run the triple option. Blocking receivers, undersized lineman, running QBs.....so it will literally take YEARS to rebuild that program if you want to run a different offense.

Great gig other than that, though.

The Platoon was the dumbest crap ever and Cal is too stubborn to stop it. Making dreams baby, making dreams.

Look at all the losers he has to get drafted this year: PJ, Richards, Hagans...

As long as Green isn’t making stupid turnovers over taking horrible shots, I’m all for him being in the game 90% of the time. His defense isn’t any worse than the other guards.

He's going to do both of those things on occasion -- but at least his strengths are a team need, and he does them better than anyone else, so I'm prepared to live with his lapses...we don't really have a choice.

The other 2 PGs just go through the motions out there -- I've been hard on Hagans, but Quickley hasn't really been any better -- both of those dudes just dribble around w/ no real intentions of doing anything.

Quade needs to be PG1, period...and when he's having one of his mental midget games, then give the other 2 some extended run. Both of those guys are a luxury to have on the roster, just like Nick Richards is -- but need to be used appropriately.

John Calipari is one of those coaches who just refuses to discuss offense. It’s the same bs every time...

“Meh, the offense is fine. We need to get tougher on defense and rebounding.”

[eyeroll]

This isn’t an either/or scenario, bub.

His actual quote last night was: “if we get the defense, the offense will come.”

I mean, yeah. Probably. But ya may wanna work on both just in case.

We.ain't.winning.nothing.with.quade.

That's fairly obvious statement. Bless his heart, he's absolutely useless against any formidable competition. That's why any minutes he gets are simply retarding the growth of the more talented PGs we have and need to improve in order to reach our potential. Even stupid Cal understands this. Same with Nick Richards. Mostly useless unless you're playing Monmouth.

Get Quickley, EJ, and Hagans all the run you can.

You better get used to Hagans because that's the guy Cal will be doing his patented full on NBA marketing thing on at the end of the year. Can you believe this guy like wow? He's like what, 16? Draft boards had him at like what #17 AS A 14 YEAR OLD??? I mean cmon now, that's crazy. Now look at him, it hasn't been easy, but hey he's a gym rat. I tell anybody who calls me, and I'm getting plenty of calls from all kinds of teams - I tell em, hey, you don't have to worry about this kid. he's a warrior.

Shorts:

- Happily supporting my neighborhood by purchasing tickets for our Victorian Home Christmas Tour this weekend. There’s a certain comraderie that accompanies owning 1800s era houses within a historic neighborhood.

- In Baker’s defense, he was a walk-on at Texas Tech.

- @IsRichieGonnaStart , update on what the Caudinalz fans are saying right now please?

- Cal has a great track record with freshman PG evolution but would love to play to a 3ball strength at 1-2-3.

- Wife’s Christmas gift list? Multiple pairs of silly expensive boutique brand yoga pants. She’s like Anth.

- Any day we win and UNC gets smacked is a good one, imo.

- Arizona and Louisville 1-2 in recruiting lol NCAA is a joke.

Basically.

You haven't watched a thing Cal has done if you think Quade is our #1 PG now, or at the end of the year. Learn everything.

Well as long as Cal’s system is based on the fact that the PG must produce then he better start considering something besides Hagans or Quickley.

They offer little to nothing 6 games into the season against all cupcakes, except Duke obviously.

Forget the fact he has a solid handle.

Whoa now.

He's fine as a 1-2 dribble pull-up guy but he gets in trouble often when he over-penetrates. He doesn't handle pressure well either and is a weak passer.

Having said that, there's a huge role for him on this team to knock down open shots, make the extra pass, and knock down open shots. I don't like him dominating the ball as much but if Quickley can be more assertive and not be as scared to make plays, Quade will *thrive* off the ball and help our team immensely.

How touching good is John Beilein? Good grief, I worship.

He has the get old/stay old deal down to perfection...loses a few key players every year, returns a few, then plugs in randos that fit HIS system to perfection. Not unlike Jay Wright really, just a different style. His teams are just a joy to watch.

Thought this was interesting, in regards to their vastly improved defense (which used to be non existent)

-Quade is also far and away the best at starting the Fast Break, dude is looking to GOOOO and advance the ball as soon as he receives it.

Our offense has been fine.

We are shooting 49.7% FG and averaging 85.3 points per game. We've scored at least 84 points in 5/7.

Some of our "shooters" haven't been hitting their wide open 3's, but even that is coming along.

But our defense has been pure ****. It would help if we didn't switch on everything. No reason for Richardson or Travis to be stuck on a guard. Hey guards, show some balls and fight through the screen.

None of our guards have shown the ability to prevent drives to the basket.

I'd start Green, Herro, Johnson, Washington and Travis.

Quickly, Montgomery & Richards off the bench. Hagans need to earn his way out there. Let's be honest, both Richards and Montgomery should be back next year. Cut down their minutes. Play Travis and Washington more. Tough games are coming up.

Don't ask Richards to cover guards, let him come in 8 minutes a game, fly around the court a few times for easy dunks and block a few shots. Once he has time to think, he's terrible. When he just reacts and plays he is a positive.

I love all of our players in the NBA, etc. Cal has won a shitload of games here plus a title and 4 FFs. But it's time to put this particular team's NBA prep on the back burner and make them play to their strengths. Win games now.

It is stupid to say that about a 6-1 team, I know, but man we are leaving a lot out there.
