Other *cultural* Thanksgiving indicators besides China/paper plates and dinner attire:

Cranberry sauce
type of bread
drinks

there may be more.

My wife's grandmother makes Oyster Dressing for Thanksgiving. It sounds pretty gross, but is actually :fire:. I'm just a simple hill jack from Beaver Dam, so I'd never heard of a such a thing until the first time I tried it.

“Oyster” Dressing in Beaver Dam = ground up catfish from the Green River.

Madisonville, for all it's faults, actually boasts the First Triumvirate of GYERO. Pretty impressive, imo.

IU/Marquette should be interesting tonight. Howard/Hauser are 2 of the best 5 shooters in the country, their whole team can stroke it. Lil Romeo's first real test.

Seeing/Hearing it as Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall is extra annoying, btw.

Nova/Michigan as well :fire:

I’ve been hip to oyster dressing since I was in grade school, and I’m from Monroe County. Granted, my little county offers a lot of fine, cultured cuisine to this backwoods state (Monroe County BBQ has a NY Times article written about it a month ago).

But I’m not a fan of the ol’ oyster dressing. I love oysters. And I like dressing. Combining those two things though . . . nah.

Also, “dressing” > “stuffing.” If you say “stuffing,” you’re less of a man than I am. Truth.

ND is all about tradition. Can’t join a conference but can play football in Yankee stadium and make their traditional uniforms look like Oregon Duck factory seconds.

I'm also now slated to have 4 (actually probably 5) Thanksgiving dinners over the next 2 weeks. Kid's school lunch, work Thanksgiving, mom's side, dad's side and my neighbor's family dinner. So yeah, I make a kale salad here and there because I don't want to eat that much food that many times.

Well, well, well. Look who knows their way around the kitchen. No StoveTop for this diva. Thanks for the info, sweetheart.

And by the way, the point remains.

IU is an unranked favorite over a ranked team, so you bet IU here right?

IU is ranked 26, Marquette is 24...no difference there.

5 points for Assembly Hall.

Who knows this early. I just bet a little 2 team Teaser for fun: IU pk & Nova -2.

Nova down 25 at home in the 1st half if you want to make yourself feel a little better about Kates. Game is eerily similar.

Well, well, well...

Did dads side of the family thanksgiving last weekend at the senior citizen center in Olive Hill. Top 5 dishes:

Scalloped potatoes
Oyster dressing
Country green beans with ham
Jalapeño corn bread
My pork butt. Two 9pounders picked clean.

Best dessert:
Red velvet cake
Pumpkin pie

This coming week, Thanksgiving eve fancy dinner at my brother in laws family. Coat and tie, hires servers, and the food is professionally done. It’s one of my favorite family events.

Thanksgiving day: Lunch at my parents. Casual. The staples, my mom crushes it. Formal China.

Thanksgiving dinner at my house for Lass’s family. I’m smoking cajun turkey breasts. Bourbon bar is open. Her family is full of foodies, should be impressive with the sides. No paper plates.

Guess Anth has the goomba Murano glass on display instead of the China.

Not hating on paper plates, but if you have a bunch of kids around, would not break out the fine china.

Scored today on four handles of Weller. That and Eagle Rare will be served for the bourbons at the wedding. Guess I better find some cheap cherries for Willy...sigh.

Had lunch at KSbar today. Wings were better, the brisket not so much.

Gimme a blowout scorched earth win tonight...please.
