-we have hosted t-giving for years. Been that way since mom passed...12 years, time goes fast. Wouldn't have it any other way. We handle the meat( here you go, doc) and a few sides and assign others the rest. Got a couple of co-op turkeys lined up. Nice little card game...and everyone is out of my hair by 10 pm.

Wednesday Shotes

-Each time the weather is ******, I get a little pleasure pang thinking about Anth. Very underrated.

-Sous Vide Filet last night, butter basted finish in cast iron w/ torch assist. Perfect. Every. Time.

-Definitely not mad at the occasional Bourbon Cream, in season. Stuff is delicious. Current bottle is the Boone Co.

-Going back to my Great-to-Terrible food & drink spectrum variance, Dressing/Stuffing has to be high on that list. The great ones (few & far between, btw) speak for themselves, but man, Bad stuffing is literally gag-inducing.

-The private party Firewood game is so shady it's hilarious. I try to cut/split most of it myself from the never-ending supply of downed trees around club property, but supplement w/ the occasional rick off Facebook/Craigslist/etc when needed. DRY FIREWOOD SPLIT TO YOUR SPECIFICATIONS!! SEASONED 1-2 YEARS. Lies. Every time. (in my experience)

-3 offensive things I'd most like to see tonight: Herro making shots/gaining confidence, PJ dominating down low like he should, Point Guards actually ATTACKING to make plays.

-Boujee Biscuit, anyone?

-That New Riff...not sure yet. That stuff is pretty loud and in-your-face. Think the black bottle plays a part in that, tbh. Did find it funny that Mr. Scotch Tony tought it tasted of chemicals. How ironic.

-Countdown to Tipoff, just 11 hours away!!!!!!

I assumed everyone used throw away plates at thanksgiving

Maybe that’s just a white trash thing

I've never wanted to be more black than around the holiday season. Pretentious honky *** food blows. My family routinely runs out of mac n cheese. I brought an aluminum foil pan full last year. Oh, and there was also no gravy on the menu. Had to run fix that real quick, too. You don't want these problems. It's embarrassing and sad.

I almost got out the china (mine is actually dishwasher safe) this past Sunday (family dinner) when Anth made short ribs, but my set is only 8 and we had 11 people at dinner. I do have the old Schem family china, but it's still wrapped in bubble wrap in the basement from the move.

My wife has my mother's China (wedding gift) displayed in our home -- we've never used it, probably never will. But, eating/drinking from my grandmother's on Thanksgiving & Christmas is perhaps the most nostalgic thing I can think of about our holidays -- it's the one thing that hasn't changed in my 39 years on earth. If that's pretentious, so be it. [eyeroll]

Mumme took a lot of what Lavell Edwards created to the nth degree and deserves a great deal of credit for that across college football.

But... as bad as the program was when he got here, he left Kentucky football in worse shape than he found it.

My wife spent 45 DOLLARS on amazon for fancy paper plates for thanksgiving. Guess what I took back to the UPS store last night??

New house of cards is much better than I had anticipated. And Diane Lane. Have freaking mercy. One of those timeless beauties imo

Keldon Johnson looks like he’s 14 years old. Most UK players look like they’re 30. Not KJ. Very young looking.

All right- I’m in the process of getting over that Duke game. I’ll even give the boys a pass for the hangover on Friday. But it’s time to step up and begin the evolution to contender. That means blasting mid majors at home and having fun doing so. Get **** right. Use that embarrassment as fuel. Let’s go.

I mean our families typically at least spring for the nice disposable holiday themed plates. WS may be able to correct me but I don't think we have one that uses actual plates or silverware. We do need to display the old school stuff though.

A banner day in our marriage was the day that we decided we didn't have to keep grandma's old china cabinet that took up valuable space and had no reason for keeping her old china either. Gave most away to Goodwill and smashed some of it just for kicks. Very liberating.

(we still have our own from wedding gifts)

Got a work cell phone today, they pay for the phone and service. Turns out Verizon service is beyond useless at home unless I'm standing outside, and really the only reason I even got it was because of the unlimited data to use it at home. So taking it back to IT on Thursday and telling them to return it. No sense in work paying for the monthly service if the phone is just going to sit around collecting dust. Going to be interesting to see how they react lol

White people's Thanksgiving food is always hilarious. The one time I went to my wife's family for Thanksgiving it was like a damn National Geographic show, but instead of showing native tribes cameras and lighters for the first time, I was trying to explain why barely boiled french style green beans with no seasoning is not appropriate food to serve to human beings.

My mom was *very* deliberate about who got what of her china sets and when she’d like for them to be used. A true china honk until the end.
Aunt was very proud the day she selected me as the only responsible party(eat it MCF and castfan...ville) to hold on to the heirloom stuff. One of our family's initial major purchases(allegedly). She was a bit wacky though so who knows, she also had a gold dipped bird cage she was very proud of, was hoping I'd get that sucker. Rest easy, Phyllis, I won't be joyfully smashing it.

I'm sure they loved you bitching and talking down to them about the free food they served you at their home. I'm guessing that's why you've only been once.

Was in a real holiday funk for a number of years. Hadn’t spent a Thanksgiving or Christmas at home for 8-9 years until last years Christmas, with most of those in the hospital 1000 miles away from family.

Growing up in BG with family in Louisville, Thanksgiving usually meant waking up early, driving 2 hours to hit up 2 different dinners to please everyone then rushing back home late for some sort of practice the next day. Same for Christmas Day, just endless driving between parties exhausted and bloated.

But as 3/4 of my grandparents have passed, cousins moved around the country so we’re condensing things, little brother had his first kid (and first grandkid for my parents) and I’m finally close enough back home to visit, this is probably the first Thanksgiving I’ve genuinely looked forward to in years.

Moms first time hosting with all of us in the same house since at least 2007, and you can be damn sure my Mammaw’s China will be out in full force.

If you don’t look forward to thanksgiving all I can assume is your family can’t cook.

Thanksgiving gives you all the positives of Christmas without buying pointless **** and it’s usually (supposed to be) warm enough to sit on the porch and eat off a styrofoam plate and plastic fork while shooting **** with your cousins

I feel bad for some of you tbh

We are in year 3 I believe, of taking over the hosting duties for thanksgiving. Ive mentioned before my only issues with the holiday is not really loving the food. I actually think most people agree but for some reason like to act like they are all of the sudden gluttons that just cant live without dressing and yams. So we prepare a huge meal of food that I like a lot more, and believe it or not nobody seems to object anymore.

Watched a little of the Georgetown/Illinois game last night. Not a bad game for two (likely) bubble teams.

Butttttt, at seeing Coach O sitting on the Illini bench. That's OK, though, because we have Joel Justus and Tony Barbee instead.....

:flush:
