Turned the game off in the first half inside the 8 minute TV timeout.

Coach K long dicked Cal all night, Ice Cube dis track style.

We where the 4th best team in the Champions Classic.

If this game was a teaching tool, Every puss boi on UK should be Rhodes Scholars.

We got a lot of figuring out to do.

Should have played zone with the way we defended the drive. Lazy *** no hands up on uncontested jumpers when they where not driving straight to the rack.

Other then those things, it wasn't too bad.

UT in Knoxville will be U-G-L-Y. Might be a DD loss year.
The zone part was sarcasm, as was the teaching lessons they should be Rhodes Scholars. Not a damn think other then pride and more heart would have HELPED last night. Still would not have won, but maybe made it respectable.

Time to change the whole offense and defensive scheme. Oh, and minutes are to be earned, not given.

starting 5

Quickley
Herro
Keldon Johnson
EJ
Travis

Hagans, PJ, Richards, Green need to earn minutes back. PJ Washington SHOULD be a leader, but only reason he is back is to work on extended that range on his jumper. Team be damned, he is going to work on getting HIS game NBA ready.
STFU and leave. Last night was bad enough. Nobody gives a damn what you think about anything, much less basketball.

edit: You're still posting.

I wonder if K will turn them into a half court/ grind it out defensive team? Get a 8-10 point lead and then burn 25-30 seconds off the shot clock before getting a contested look?

SAE is a visionary.

In retrospect, one of the worrisome parts of this beat down was the way Cal has been all swaggy grinning like he's been dealt a royal flush for months as though he didn't even recognize what a **** hand he was holding... o_O

On the plus side, it turns out my decision not to subscribe to THE ATHLETIC (and its stable of "talented and brave writers") was a good one.

Last thing I want to do right now -- or for the next several weeks -- is read about college basketball, much less pay to read about college basketball.

Ugh thanks but no thanks.

I did find it odd that Cal wasn’t doing his usual substitution pattern of pulling guys the second they do something stupid or lazy on the defensive end. Not sure what to make of that.

Quite the range of emotions:

-rug pulled out from under what we thought was a legit top 3 team.
-realizing a title is a long shot now.
-realizing the biggest threat is likely going to win a title with a dude that should be on your team.
-pure embarrassment that I can't really recall a comparable experience with following ukbb.

Obviously we're not that bad but I just don't understand what in the hell is going on. If Cal thought they'd be this bad he's always tempering expectations.

RJ Barrett is a monster. Man, what a player.

I'm curious what happened to Quickley over the past 2 weeks? Dude started in Bahamas and has generally looked great since he arrived -- last night, he was basically a scrub. Pretty obvious Cal hates him.

Hagans must really practice well, b/c I've still seen nothing from that dude to indicate he's our PG #1 right now.

-Yeah, think I'm done w/ Indy. Touch that place. Also go ahead and put me down for never wanting to step inside a Tin Roof ever again.

-Left at Halftime, and wanted to leave after the first 8 minutes. It was beyond clear what was happening, which was more or less a continuation of the ******** play during the 2 exhibition games.

-Said before the game I was worried that we didn't have a rotation, and that you knew K was going to play his best 5-6 guys (like he always does). They looked like an actual team, while we just looked like a random roster that met each other last week. Really annoyed w/ Cal right now.

I love the Indy setup, and Bbdk does as well as he was talking about it yesterday, but there's no in between with UK and that place. We're either way on top or crushed.

WTF happened during that U18 trip that Cal coached? Immediately after the trip, we were basically cut from every list.

Just for mental and historical perspective, in 1950 UK was ranked #3 and lost to CCNY by 39 points in the NIT. The loss was so humiliating that the legislature introduced a motion that state flags be flown at half-mast. While no election was happening, that game fortunately had very low ratings because it wasn't on TV. The football team later that same year would go 11-1.

Nodding. I'll go further and say that Quickley has looked clearly superior to Hagans and Green thus far. Not sure why it is so hard to see that the best backcourt lineup is Quickley - Herro - Johnson with Hagans coming in for defense and Green only to spell minutes.

I still think this team has a chance to turn into a monster come March but we sure as hell don't look like the squad we saw in the Bahamas.

Since the Zion commitment, Cal seemed to get his fire back. My hope is that watching Zion and crew go blacks on blondes on his squad gets Calipari all the way back to the guy who sees himself as a scrappy underdog who has to earn everything.

There. That's my attempt at optimism.

One really early weird move was when Johnson was keeping us in the game early and Cal took him out, seemingly for no reason at all.

Cal subs like he legitimately has no clue how to use this roster. He was as lost as the players last night, and honestly the two exhibition games as well. The only time we’ve played well was when he was eating hot dogs in the stands.

Forgot about that; absurd. Reminded me of Hoosiers when Hackman pulled Strap out of the game while he was lighting it up following the "God wants you on the floor" comment.

I think it's pretty simple that Calipari was cheating when he got the Kentucky job. He's not cheating anymore for whatever reason...we don't know but probably related to the disappearance of WWW and the basketball scandal. Until he starts cheating again he's not going to get the elite elite recruits anymore. K and Self have that on lockdown and are bulletproof...for now.

Perfect job for Matt Jones...dig up **** on and take down K.

- Just got home. Wow. Never seen anything like it. That building was just waiting to explode, and...nothing.

- Solo bandwagon Duke fan (wearing all red) behind me sarcastically talking **** then entire first half. Finally said something. Fiesty words exchanged. Then his dipshit UK buddy who brought him started telling all of us around him to sit down and shut up. Things almost got out of hand. F*** both those guys.

Stayed until 4 min left to hate watch.

- Anthony and WS were definitely in the local establishments since 1PM. [laughing]

- Never going back to Indy.

Man what an awesome time, me and my buddy were official dads let into the wild for a weeknight mode and did an absolutely MISERABLE job of pacing ourselves.

Was my first ever UK travel game and was so amazed by how many UK fans there were, at least 90%, it was awesome. Had a great dinner at Prime 47, drank an incredible amount including way too many shots. The bartender at Tin roof gave us 120 dollars back as change for a 20 we gave him. Didn’t realize it until we headed to another bar so we took this as a sign that we need to blow it all on more booze. Ended up with great seat row 1 up in the upper level thanks to MSU.

Me and my buddy were so drunk we were pretty much disoriented and confused as to what the hell was happening during the actual damn game, which was an amazing blessing in disguise. Felt like Keldon Johnson was balling in the beginning, wasn’t he? How in gods name did they score 118?? I mean seriously WTF happened.

All we heard about this offseason was how giddy the coaching staff is about this team. Kept hearing how everyone was a dog. Dog this dog that dog dog dog. WTF happened, I can’t imaging the coaching staff was this off about what kind of team we’ll be. I’m just going to hope this was like the 2011 UCONN Maui game where we couldn’t even dribble the ball past half court and we’ll improve dramatically.

Midweek hangover really starting to settle in now.[sick]

This is GYERO so I'm going to talk about it -- but how good is Zion, though?

What a phenomenon..

Draining 3's, mid-range, post ups, blowing by ppl at will, throwing weak **** back, finishing right, leading fast breaks, mean faces, look aheads... basically putting the world on notice.

You can't ask for a better performance.

BTW, Reddish has it good -- let RJ and Zion do all the heavy lifting. Just sit back and profit, launch open 3's all year with the occasional 'keep them honest drive to the basket'. Bet that's nice.
