Garland didn't get a vote

This guy's life is being ruined and accused of gang raping women.

Stop comparing the two, idiots

You think this wouldn't be happening if the parties were reversed? :joy:

If Trump was in his last year of office, Democrats would've pulled the exact same stall ******** the Republicans did. And if Republicans were in this position, they'd be assassinating the character of whoever the Democratic President nominated.

The whole thing is ****.

Anyway, I'm out on this conversation. I've got cakes to win at my daughter's Fall Festival cake-walk. And I've got the Ryder Cup to gear up for. F*ck politics.

- Garland wasn't put through because of the Biden Rule in which he stated a lame duck president should not be able to appoint a SC justice. May have been weak but using their own tricks against them. At any rate, Hillary was a shoe in to win. Many think she made a deal with Turtle so she could name her own nominee. Guess that backfired.

- Kavanaugh is being pushed through because you can't let democrats get away with this ********. Many other reasons why also.

Apparently you and I are the only two people who hadn't formed an opinion yet. I have no idea if it happened or not, I wasn't there. I think it's odd you would come forward 30 years later for political reasons instead of legal reasons, but that still doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Oh and the Garland situation was a plain old kick in the nuts, no two ways about it. I'm grateful it went down like that, but it doesn't change the situation it was a giant dick move.

Thursday Randoms:

*Had to fast today to get blood drawn this afternoon after work. Nothing better than smashing a big meal after waiting all day.

*(Dadyero warning) Last night caught the kiddo in the middle of "cooking." He had pushed a chair to the stove (which is safety locked) and had emptied the salt shaker and a quarter stick of butter into a pan. Couldn't even be mad, at least his instincts are right.

*Gotta wake up at 6 for my new job. Team summer, but the weather this morning was awesome. Can't beat that first time there's a little crisp in the air. The next month or two is the absolute best weather all year. Need to get down to Lex and hit up Keeneland soon.

*Cats by 17. We started flexing nuts last week. I'm all in and whatnot.

*The other day on KSR they talked about the possible end of the Big Blue Madness camp out. I don't get it, can't they just move the location? That's a great tradition, even though I'm too old for that ****.

- I want to apologize to everyone, especially paintrain_cat, for my 2-3 posts I submit a week. I'll do better, I promise. After all, I post for KENTUCKY.

-- I would appreciate all of y'all apologizing in return for making this the GYEROlitcal thread this afternoon.

Sorry I’m not sorry.

The man has been investigated/background checked by the FBI 6 times and NATHAN was found.

All the people who were supposedly there have denied it happened.

The democrats had the information for weeks about the accuser and said nothing about it till the last hour. They even concealed it from the republican chairman.

So now they want an FBI investigation...for what other purpose than to delay this confirmation.

This is just a brutal smear job.

Sad.

Excellent political discussion today. [eyeroll]

Not naming names, but a few of you are making arguments that simply are not supported by the facts. I'm not surprised by it, especially with certain posters, but I'd strongly suggest trying to learn what's actually going on before spewing partisan talking points.

This isn't the political thread. If you're going to bring that discussion over here, let's at least set the bar a little higher.

Oh lord, grow up people. There is nothing wrong with discussing a national topic, even if it involves politics.

Sorry to take a break from roguemocha ***** bashing, or bitching about Chadwick not making big a GD tailgate, or how cheesy Dr. Boat is, or how much f:::ing BlackHaus everybody drank at the Jaimanthony's.

Please, by all fuc$ing means, let's get back to the 'good' stuff.

I’d wager that everyone knew a guy in HS or college that wouldn’t hesitate to try to take advantage of a drunk girl. It sadly happens. I’m not saying Kavanaugh did or didn’t do stuff.

What is not in doubt is that he was a political operative before being a judge. That’s bothersome to me and troubling for the long term.

If both Kavanaugh and Judge were blackout at the time of the alleged assault, neither of them would have any recollection of the encounter. He may well legitimately believe he did not do it, when in fact he just has no memory of doing it (and neither does Judge). And there apparently were no other witnesses, so the only person who can say any differently is her.

This is not my “opinion.” I have no idea what happened and won’t pretend to do so. But based on what we do know, and based on my own experiences with ******* prep school kids, my gut tells me that the above scenario is a real possibility.

Call me crazy, but I don't come to GYERO to read partisan political BS. I like reading about random, relatively inconsequential topics. It offers a break from all of the garbage we can't escape otherwise.

I already spend enough of my life arguing with people about important stuff. This place is about fighting to the death over things that don't matter in the least. I hope that never changes.

- Kavanaugh gets confirmed, unless Jeff Flake goes out in a blaze of glory and votes against him. Pence will get it with the tie breaker.

- Dry heat.

- So catsfanbgky decided he's the enforcer around here now...and then proceeds to think he's "in" on the heart breaking loss picture joke.

Sorry, "Kemosabe."

Just because people are too tired to actively try and run you off...doesn't mean people want to read your awfulness. Thanks for understanding.

What a pathetic display for America. Just a complete a thorough sham all around. Women are entitled to and deserve comfort and safety and care and concern as they have the courage to confront their accusees, particularly as sexual assault goes widely unreported, but men should always be assumed innocent until proven guilty.

Today was none of that.

It was a disgraceful dog and pony show, where dim witted attention whores in fancy suits aligned themselves not with right or wrong, but with strict party line politics, to embarrassingly sling mud at each other’s elected factions. What a disgrace, and every single person in that room, save Judge Kavanaugh and Dr Ford, should be completely ashamed of themselves.

It’s hard to determine what was more cringe worthy. Was it Senator Graham rhetorically asking the would be Supreme Court Justice if he’s a gang rapist? Or maybe the Democratic Senator needling him over his high school yearbook notations and the interpretation of various jargon for flatulence?

Unpopular as it may be, this is the type of horseshit that leads me NOT to vote. Thankful for the right, but I don’t particularly care to be represented by any of these buffoons.

Assuming you're right. What is anybody supposed to do about it? He's apparently conducted himself in an exemplary fashion in his adult life. Should his career be derailed by an unprovable hypothetical?
