It honestly doesn't matter if he is confirmed or not. The only thing that matters is what party appoints the Justices. Your party appoints them, they work for you. You don't appoint them, tough titty. So it really doesn't matter if he gets confirmed or not. If he doesn't they'll slide in his replacement that will essentially be the exact same.

This is why I don't understand the push for this guy. There are 1000 Federalist Society clones out there with the same credentials and without the baggage. Dump him (which would have already happened 30 years ago btw) and move on.

In old Turkish law they would set someone’s tongue on a hot grill to determine if he was lying or not in “court”. The thought was if a man was being honest he wouldn’t have anything to be nervous about and his wet tongue wouldn’t stick. If he was lying he would have a dry mouth and his tongue would stick and burn.

Pretty foolproof if you ask me.

Also I’m assuming the Democrats are trying to prevent any SCOTUS people until November hoping they regain majority and then stall like the republicans did for over a year with Obama’s choice because politics might as well be junior high.

The Democrats are going to do the same thing to the next person. They'll do whatever they have to do to keep Trump from appointing another justice.

Pretty similar to what Republicans did to Garland by refusing to vote for a year or whatever it was. It's all just a manipulation by both sides to get "their guy" in there. There's a list a mile long by each side that's ready to issue opinions how they want them issued. If you aren't in the majority, you do everything under the sun, even if it is illegal or despicable, to kill the confirmation. So if you're nominated, your *** better be squeaky clean, and even if you are squeaky clean you better hope someone hasn't been hired to assassinate your character.

The system sucks, basically. In its entirety.

I understand BLUE TEAM RED TEAM and all that, but the certainty that so many people have that this guy didn't do anything and that this is all a conspiracy is startling to me. There's a chance the lady this morning is wrong about who assaulted her, but she sure didn't come across as willingly making **** up.

I thought both of them seemed credible in their own beliefs today, if that's allowed.

Apparently you and I are the only two people who hadn't formed an opinion yet. I have no idea if it happened or not, I wasn't there. I think it's odd you would come forward 30 years later for political reasons instead of legal reasons, but that still doesn't mean it didn't happen.
Oh and the Garland situation was a plain old kick in the nuts, no two ways about it. I'm grateful it went down like that, but it doesn't change the situation it was a giant dick move.
