Assuming my neighbor's already-decrepit-looking oaks and a few pines will be in the yard by Saturday afternoon. Pretty anxious about this one even being inland a ways. Fran wrecked this place in the 90's. Similar set up.

This about sums it up.

http://politifeed.net/politics/navy...aepernick-in-powerful-speech-over-take-a-knee

“It’s one thing to protest what you see as an injustice. It’s another to protest this during the national anthem. It grossly fails to realize the immense sacrifice that was already made under the flag.

The fact that people can’t see past this doesn’t show how insensitive they are to what you’re trying to draw attention to. It shows how little you appreciate the sacrifice that was made before you were even born to afford you the ability to protest so boldly.”

One form of protest would be to revolt against your own government, refuse to pay taxes, declare war on them, and form a completely new, independent government.

Now THAT would be a protest.

I can’t even imagine how disgusted our founding fathers would be at these antics we’re seeing today.

If they take a knee they are unpatriotic - even if a white veteran suggested the idea. If they organize they are identified by the worst of the crowd (BLM) and labeled everything from racists to terrorists. If they speak out at town halls or other public forums they are outnumbered and derided.

I can't think of anything more patriotic than protesting. It just seems to be one side of this argument (on a macro level, not just kneeling) that seem to get "offended" by the protest of choice, in spite of the fact that they do the exact same thing when they see their form of injustice.

It's way too nuanced to be wrong or right regardless, but we are talking about it which should be seen as a net positive.

Just Stopping by Musings:

- What a win. Everything that needs to be said, has been. I don't think I went to bed Saturday night/Sunday morning until 4am. Lass is marketing/business development for a bank and had to attend a black tie fundraiser/auction in Mount Sterling. Had a ton of cool UK memorabilia (Davis, KAT, '98 championship team, Stoops signed balls; Justify's bridal from Winstar; a free wisdom tooth extraction (went for $1900; weirdest auction item ever).

Our table was all of us sitting around on a guy's iPhone watching the game. The auctioneer keeps asking us for updates and announcing it over the speakers with his auction-style voice. The place was going bonkers at the end.

Headed to the USC and Georgia games. Might look into a Keeneland/Vandy combo.

What would be Vegas odds on the Cats snapping the streak in the Swamp and a 16-seed beating a 1-seed in the NCAA happening in the same year? +100000?

- Speaking of Vegas, three times in 8 months for dad. Man, I love that town.

I'd take downtown and Fremont if I had to. Just a big mess, but enjoyed it. The Golden Nugget shark tank pool is pretty damn nice, too.

If we're talking strip, the Bellagio was like a movie. We had a hook-up with Louie Vuitton and got to check out the fountains from their balcony. Could almost reach out and touch them. A tremendous, night view to take in with some bubbly.

But give me the Wynn, shew wee. What a place. And their sports book. Phenomenal. Luckily the gal is just as big of a sports/horseball as me, so we easily could have sat there all day long. I couldn't imagine during March Madness. Their 21+ pool was stocked with European filly titties. The guy in speedos loves nothing more than to bend over in your face. We get it, Jacques.

- I'm ashamed to have lived in our great Commonwealth for 41 years and just recently started to find a real love for bourbon. Should be a crime and I'd turn myself in if possible.

Bourbon virgin Top 5 (plenty of time to mix it up):
1. Angel's Envy
2. Four Roses
3. Woodford
4. Blanton's
5. Willett

Suggestions?

- YouTube Premium's documentary "G Funk." was great. Had no clue how vital Warren G was to that era. Dude was the backbone of the west coast movement. Pretty much had to force Snoop to continue to pursue. Check it out, @bbdk. $10 for no ads is just gravy.

- GAMBOL: Hit three, 3-teamers this weekend. A nice start to feed the bankroll. Early-in-the-week favorites for me: Ohio St -12, Okla -17.5 and Wisky -21.5.

Ready for Keeneland to start. Grandstand finish line (Friday), The Hill (Saturday) and Lexington/Kentucky room (Sunday) for the opening three days. Entering their handicapping contest on the 13th. Back the next two Saturdays. Love that place way too much.

- My kid was around 13 the last time I think I posted here. Took him out for a bourbon and crafty for his 21st last month. Been awhile and I'm old.

The extreme fringes of both sides are horrible.

Problem is, the extreme fringes of both sides seem to be expanding.

Anyone who doesn"t agree with everything I just said is unreasonable and a idiot.

They aren't expanding, just getting louder with more platforms. They also vote everytime.

Motivating the middle is key.

Agree. But I think it is important to point out that extreme fringe on the left is 1000's(no rogue. Ok, maybe rogue. 100's anyway) of times bigger than the right. That's not debatable.

Not to be a jerk, but I’m done telling people what I like. Bourbon is getting to be a tricky ticket.

Is this more surprising than a MattsCats return??

Or some old dude paying $1900 for wisdom teeth removal. He was 65 at least.

I'd throw in Basil over Woodford. Also Jefferson's Ocean.

I have yet to try them. Writing that down.

No MSPaint Sheray Thomas dunking the ball in a wheelchair gif by MattCats, no care.

Trust me. I spent way too much time at work looking through 6 old jump drives/DVDs. Was going to be at the end of the post.

Does this mean you are no longer a magistrate or council member or whatever it was?

When you were looking for that MS Paint, did you happen to find the thread where I said if UK was going to beat Florida, it would happen in Gainesville and '73 went multipost on how bad of a take it was (circa 'mid 2000's)?

How “Love in an Elevator” became my personal 9/11 Anthem:

I got some tickets in August of 01 for an Aerosmith show in Nashville for 9/20/01. After the attacks, no one knew if they would still honor that concert and no one would have really blamed them if they didn’t.

They decided to go ahead and play because of that nationwide effort to “get back to normal.” It was their first show after the attacks so we didn’t know what to expect.

So the time comes for them to take the stage. Lights go out, normal crowd road. Steven Tyler screams something hard to understand about U-S-A from off stage while flood lights are circling around, little more crowd roar. The guitar riff to “Elevator” kicks in, crowd gets louder. Stage lights come up and Joe Perry begins to ascend from underneath the stage slangin’ those riffs, crowd roars louder. By the time he gets waist level rising up from the stage, the crowd sees he’s playing a Les Paul painted as the American Flag and that’s sorta when the crowd knew things were going to be alright. Very cool moment.

Anyway, every time I hear that song, I think of that moment and have an unusually odd remeberance of those post-9/11 days.

What a country!

After the WTC studies came out, building codes for “Super” High Rises were revised. One revision requires three stair towers so firefighters can have one all to themselves. In order to have two, there is an exception is you provide “OCCUPANT EVACUATION ELEVATORS.”

If you substitute “Love in an el-e-va-tor” with “occ-u-pant e-va-cu-a-tion,” It becomes a very poignant thinkpiece on super high rise life safety egress strategies, IMO.
