We are going to be good, very, very good. But I hope William Joseph Wildcat doesn’t compare this team to 14-15 (for Chief) and hold them to that standard. They aren’t going to be remotely close to that good.

So #9 seed then?

Not sure we can take much from these games, but it's a great diversion for August:

Washington looks to be in good shape. It'll be nice to have a guy with experience who has gotten real minutes.
Johnson - Yes to having a guy who wants to throw it down every time.
Herro - Seems convinced he can play. Hope he's in the rotation in conference season and isn't the guy that we all wonder why Cal won't play.
Dakich - Needs to take it down a notch and is in danger of becoming a caricature of himself.

Biggest surprise was PJ looking lean and mean. Actually, his mean mug will be less intimidating without all the extra face fat he had.

That and we have the most prototypical Duke player of the last 20 years and kid can ball.

Biggest disappointment is Reid Bobby Perry Travis. Settle down, big fella.

Keldon Johnson is going to make an opposing player cry at least 3 times this year. That dude has nothing but ill-intentions with the ball.

There are a half dozen players on the Wildcat ball team who are whiter than Tyler Herro.

Were people expecting Travis Diener or something?

But seriously - there's a lot of Ron Mercer in Herro's game. And, of course, Anthony Peeler.

Best cross-racial player comp I've heard in a long time. Suck it, Jon Rothstein.

"So much Ben Brust in Tyler Herro." Thanks, Jon.

-I actually see more Devin Booker than just about anyone w/ Herro. That mid game is niiiiiiiiiiiice. Seems to release his 3 ball a bit early though.

-Also, he's got 2" on him & obviously not the stroke, but Keldon Johnson looks & moves like a young Eric Gordon out there. Quick power dribbles & a bullet straight line driving to the rim.

Agree on Dakich, he's the best in the biz but was pretty bad last night; it's entirely possible that he was under the influence. Miles Bridges as his Keldon comp...and doubling and tripling down on it all game? That's terrible.

-Wife returns from a weeklong vacation today, actually starting to miss her a little. :)

-#Astroworld bangs. Dude brought it the heavy hitters. 'Skeletons' ftw (prod by Tame Impala)

-Another cool read on the Inside story of Arenas/Crittendon, first time ole Gil has spoken on the incident:

-Longshots - Bubba +4500, Rickie +2000, List +10000.

The baseball card game is poppin’! Turning back the clock like it’s 1989.

Top 3 scorers this season for us,in no particular order and my belief what would be best for us to reach our potential:
Johnson
Washington
Herro

^ Quade needs to be in the mix, b/c if he isn't that means he isn't making shots -- which is obviously going to be an issue yet again.

Quade needs to be on the damn bench. That was evident last year, but thank god we have enough guards that we don't need to play him this year. Bring him in, see if he can get hot and microwave it up for a bit, then take his lil *** out. He's just a liability when you have horses like Hagans, Quickley, Herro out there.

I have a hard time seeing this team as a bad shooting team, as long as the right guys get the shots. We took some awful and out of rhythm threes last night, and obviously, that will improve with time. If we get the right shots I don't think we have the 2-20 nights this year.

If we win tonight I'll be extremely impressed.

Per KSR:

3 straight championships
Considered the best team in South America
Lead the Raptors at halftime of a game in 2016
Just added last year's Guard of the Year
