Getting ready to run to 76 falls. Man the ice was still cold in the yeti this morning.

What a great day to be alive.

From the neighborhood website:

To the a**holes setting off fireworks. Our dogs are shaking in fear hiding under the bed and our horses are freaking out. Any injuries, get ready for the lawsuit. And the bill for their sedatives.

America!

Maybe we should invent some GYERO branded Mammal Muffs for just this type of occasion. Exploding rockets and fireballs all around you? Dogs and horses freaking out? Put these soundproof (results may vary) Mammal Muffs over their ears and enjoy the peace and quiet of your everyday useless lives. Sold only at As Seen on TV stores in the greater-Gatlinburg area.

IMO, it's not arson when you light something that's created and intended to be lit on fire.

"Unlawful Conversion of Amusement Devices", perhaps, along with damages for Loss of Entertainment Opportunity.

I want to know how many snakes got set off in that fire. Very disappointed we couldn't see like 10 thousand snakes unleashed at once.

Arson might be a stretch. Might depend on if that tent met the definition of "building".

"Building," in addition to its ordinary meaning, specifically includes any dwelling, hotel, commercial structure, automobile, truck, watercraft, aircraft, trailer, sleeping car, railroad car, or other structure or vehicle, or any structure with a valid certificate of occupancy.

It's almost certainly Criminal Mischief 1st.

A person is guilty of criminal mischief in the first degree when, having no right to do so or any reasonable ground to believe that he has such right, he intentionally or wantonly defaces, destroys or damages any property causing pecuniary loss of $1,000 or more.

A creative prosecutor might even be able to pigeonhole it as theft if they wanted a stronger charge, depending on the facts. For instance, if they stayed and watched the show there's an argument to be made they just stole the fireworks.

A person is guilty of theft by unlawful taking or disposition when he unlawfully: (a) Takes or exercises control over movable property of another with intent to deprive him thereof; or (b) Obtains immovable property of another or any interest therein with intent to benefit himself or another not entitled thereto.

I know a dude who spends $5,000/year on fireworks for his annual 4th of July lake show. He's from Fairdale.

There were a lot of them.

While I would never spend $1 on them, I don't have any issue w/ fireworks in general (when appropriate) -- as it usually means I'm having a good time, people are celebrating, kids are elated, etc.

I have a few FB friends who count down the days til the 4th and without question blow their entire check on their little fireworks, and that's just weird AF to me.

I don't mind the kids shooting fireworks on NYE and the 4th. I get it, let them enjoy their selves. Yes it inconveniences me for about 2 hours by making sure the dog doesn't go apeshit and some were still going when I was trying to go to bed, but pretty menial in the grand scheme of things.
BUT, these touchers that buy way too many then shoot them for the next 2 weeks can GGP. Got no symphony is someone loses a digit shooting fireworks after the universally designated dates. Actually I hope for it.

If you get upset about fireworks on the 4th of July you’re probably a real hoot to hangout with, no one cares about your schnauzer’s jitters. The next few weeks are pretty annoying though.

We did shoot off about 4 fireworks for my gals birthday one year and the old neighbor across the street ran out of his house in his underwear yelling at us which was hilarious.

Swing by the vet’s office and pay $10 for the equivalent of a doggy Valium (or give them a real Valium, whatever).

Thought I'd swing thru. Been awhile.

-Summer is dope. I literally have no clue how anyone could not like it.

-Fireworks are fine but I'd never pay for them. I lose interest in them about 5 mins into a display.

-It's been wedding SZN for Slice. Been to 3 in the last two weeks (Shitbag's included). Anas Mahmoud attended one of them, and he stuck out not only because he's 7'0" but because he was the only one there in a pair of shorts. Pretty incredible.

-Winged tip dress shoes FTW.

-Love it for Boogie that he's going to GS. Don't get the critics. It's not bad for the league, it drives competition and forces other teams to look for ways to get better. Apple inventing the iPhone didn't ruin the industry, it caused other companies to try to improve the product, ultimately resulting in a better market for the consumer.

-If it means ditching the checkerboard, the I'm all in on the Cats switching to Jumpman. A Cal + Jim Harbaugh Jordan promotion of some sort would be amazing.

-Playing Shelbyville CC on Saturday. Never played it before. Opinions?

Hope y'all are good

Nagging question I've had for a while:

Why did "season" become SZN? If we're doing it phonetically, CZN would have made much more sense. o_O

It's as if the person who invented it didn't think it all the way through.

Didn't Johnny Football start it w/ his 'COMEBACK SZN' Twitter stuff? Cricket will know the answer.

I didn’t hear any fireworks in my #smug neck of the woods until a few Tuesday night. Reckon I won’t hear any tonight, but again, you all knew that.

Not really a comparable situation. Read up on the concept of "zero sum game". NBA basketball is one b/c there is a finite number of good players.

We have a guy in our neighborhood who drives an absolute POS mustard yellow cart, that a lot guys give him **** about (good natured). Late in the night after men’s league Tuesday one guy tells him he’ll give him a grand to let him blow it up. No explosions, but they did manage to bury it in the pond on 10, which is right at the entrance of the neighborhood. Fully grown, 40 to 50 year old adult men. :joy:

Wish I would’ve seen it happen, but glad I wasn’t involved and don’t have to get that thing towed out of the pond.

When healthy 5 of the top 20 players in the league playing on the same team is good for competition, yup Slice is a KSR writer.

I understand it isn't exactly the same. But there is evidence of teams improving and rethinking how the game is played as a result of the Warriors. The Rockets are the best example. They added some new guys, but also had an unprecedented season from 3. It took them one off-season to nearly eliminate a Warriors team, that swept their way to a Finals the year before.

Warriors were on their way to being a dynasty without Durant and now Cousins. Other teams were going to have to change they way they played to catch them anyway.

Exactly.

Plus, if there were NO elite teams people would just ***** and moan about how "garbage" the league is and endlessly talk about JORDAN AND THE BULLS WOULD HAVE blahblahblah.[sick]
