Well that makes things better. Do we get a do-over?

This season was a slog. Sloppy, selfish, uninspired play, with flashes of brilliance. But years like this aren't what made Kentucky basketball Kentucky basketball. You're happy with this ****, you need to adjust your standards.

It'd be different if everybody was coming back, or if we had the #1 class coming in. But they're not, and we don't, and there's a very good chance we'll be right back a year from now.

We just lost what was essentially a home game. To a 9 seed. Coached by Bruce Weber. With an 11 seed waiting on us to go to the Final Four.

Pathetic.

Rack.

Someone feel free to double check me on this but I don’t think we’ve had a top 5 recruit since Skal which feels like a lifetime ago.

If you’re not signing the studs and still can’t get kids to stay longer than one year, then it’s time to re-evaluate your system.

We know what we get with Cal and it's better than Tubby or Billy G ball, but lord is it tiring knowing that we will lose a couple guys that should stay and would stay if at another school. Reload and recycle, etc. "hey, we are the youngest team EVER, its crazy!"

When this bracket opened up, I knew it was too good to be true. It's just not supposed to be easy for UK. So it is ordained and so it shall be.

Cals got all the glamorous numbers in the world I expected when he got here, except one. Today is the first day I do not think he gets a second title here.

Legitimately feel bad for the fans that made the trip. What a waste of time and money for them.

Have a buddy that lives in Georgia and was already going to be in Atlanta Saturday so he bought tickets, it was going to be his daughters first game, and the first game he's ever went to with his dad.

Joel Justus could have won that game last night.

Tallest player is shorter than Knox (who is a huge gaping p*****, but still...). All their “bigs” foul out. We’re in the damn double bonus for like 10min per half. The worst FT shooter on our team shoots 20 FTs and misses em all.

Joel was probabaly punching numbers and quietly losing his mind over there.

Saw backward hat guy behind the KState bench. Was hoping he might do something to preserve his tickets for Saturday, which are now worthless.

Ugh, what a clunker.

The sequence that really changed the game was the 8pt swing in 15 seconds. Knox goes from a bucket and one becoming a charge, Cal gets a stupid technical for being out of the box, two free throws for KState and then they get the ball and hit a 3.

Jesus PJ, practice some foul shots this summer.

We’ve developed a strategy that makes seasons complete grinds void of any joy. Without the “best of the best” as Cal said, this system is not only flawed, but awful to endure.

Insult to injury - I really don’t enjoy watching college basketball at all anymore, and I have no faith that the NCAA will do anything to clean up the game. Scoring is down, pace of games is unbearable, and with the newfound replays, it’s only getting worse.
  • Fix the block/charge
  • Shorten the shot clock
  • Go to quarters, so we aren’t shooting the bonus with 10 minutes left in each half
  • Review game tapes and suspend players who excessively flop
  • Widen the lanes
I’m pissed off about the way things are going, but the bastardization of the game is the most disheartening. I’m not watching another minute of this ****.

Yeah, really get that percentage up for the D league. They’re going to need you down the stretch with the Chatahootchee River Rats.

That was 40 minutes of just pure touching hell. Climbing out, punching, fighting, tie the game, take the lead, flush it all down the GD toilet. Such a touching kick in the nuts.

I wish sports did not do this to me, it's so unhealthy. I pledged I would not let it get to me after the 38-0 blow up, but I am numb we blew this opportunity.

Finally accepted that if we win another one under Cal it will be purely coincidental to his actual goals. It's been that since day 1, but I guess I just told myself that it was all marketing and, deep down, Cal was really about winning. And maybe before 2012 it was to a degree, but certainly not anymore. John is fat, happy, and lovin' it.

4 titles pissed away (2010, 2011, 2014, 2015) and now the easiest path to a Final Four pissed away. Absent another big banner, Cal's legacy will be wasted opportunity.

- I’m a Cal homer but without the huge payoff of March success watching damn near every young team struggle throughout the regular season isn’t worth it. It’s a four month grind to good basketball and then we’re three years from the F4.

- I am fine ending generational poverty. I am fine with whatever helps these kids...as long as UK benefits as well. And right now, we’re not.

- We aren’t keeping guys and the ones we do - Lee, Willis, Poythress, Wynyard- aren’t developing.

- Any other program, you’re getting Vanderbilt back and have a decent to good shot of getting either SGA or Knox back. Not us.

- And what if you’re SKJ? You’v just watched your coach start a guy all year that you were clearee better than.

- Oh well- turning my attention to my wedding.

- In the illustrious words of Crash Davis, “F this f’ing game.”

It all feels like some stupid dream you would have the night before the games start because you've been thinking about it too much.

"Yeah, it was weird. Everybody was losing in front of us by twenty points. I mean everyone. Even one seeds were losing to sixteens, and we were really excited. Teams had weird mascots like retrievers and an old woman that looked like my grandma. Then we lost to Kansas State. Really weird."

Kind of hard to stay on the generation poverty train when you've got videos of the guys discussing who has the most $100+ pairs of shoes. The only guys who likely need the NBA money are Quade and Nick and they're not going anywhere.

Cal has lost by a combined 32 points in NCAA games at UK.

PJ Washington shot the most free throws in an NCAA game since Roderick Rhodes in 1994.

The most free throw attempts in a NCAA game by a UK player is like 22 back in the 60’s. Absurd.

I took the day off work for my mental health

* From the Herald Leader:

"(Knox and Gilgeous-Alexander) are the only two Wildcats projected as first round picks in this week's ESPN draft rankings, but there will likely be more defections to the pro ranks."

Pretty much perfectly sums up the problem.

* It'd be nice if this helped stop self-righteous media types from fan-shaming, though I'm sure it won't. Self-awareness is in short supply with those folks. They thought they were pulling an "Old Takes Exposed" on a bunch of BJW's, but turns out, they're the ones who got got.

* NCAA Tournament wins In Calipari's 9 years at UK:
  • First three years: 13
  • Next three years: 9
  • Last three years: 6
Trending the wrong way, fatty.

Some of that needs to happen but the Nevada/Loyola game was really enjoyable to watch because you had two teams with a lot of experienced players who are capable of running offense. When you have a bunch of freshman who can't run basic motion offense you get clunkers like last night. And that is not enjoyable to watch for fans or casual observers.

I think this is unquestionably Cal’s worst coaching job.

He’s gone from “I recruit the best of the best” and “can’t hide you” to putting his son on scholarship and managing a rotation like it’s Upwards basketball and everyone has to play a quarter. Nick Richards would have had a seat next to Bolden all year at Duke and Hami would have been limited to spot minutes. K will play 5 guys 40 min if that’s what gets the W.

I’m not one to gripe about the overall job and make general dumbass statements about this system. It’s stupid, this system works, he’s proven it works.

...but he did a poor job this year, out of his own stubbornness, or whatever, it’s one to forget. Time for a staff shakeup and some looking in the mirror by HCJVC.
