We may be stupid freshmen, but KU is fd. Garbage team. They need to cheat harder.

We played great D...aside from first half rebounding. Had like fifty hundred blocks and steals. Hell, even defended pick n roll adequately. Tried real hard against fat boy. Didn't give KU too many looks. Showed way more promise than I was expecting after the first couple games. Didn't even yell "zone mfer!!!" once.

Our offense is piss. Our season will come down to holding our opponent to 60 points and hitting our threes. Again. Wish we could find easy half court baskets. We should be able to iso Kevin Knox on the block and get 2, foul, or wide open kick out whenever we feel like it.

Better than i expected, but still a long road to hoe.

Clean up the ****** passing and stupid turnovers and we win easy.

We will play a lot better if Barbee would just sit tf down. Hate that guy.

Knox is going to be great but shew kid ya need to get something off better than half way behind the backboard worse angle possible baseline attempt.

Most encouraging of the night was what we saw from SKJ. Keep it up

I think the cake is on pre-heat.

STILL REDASS BUT ALSO NO SLEEP RANDOMS:

* Nick Richards had 9 rebounds in 13 minutes. He was also terrible. That was a game where we needed some horrorshow Jamaican brawler. Get it together, big fella.

* PJ Washington. Nice 0-fer the field and 4 turnovers. 'preciate it. You're better than that. Get it together, big fella.

* I really give zero ***** about the +/- stat. If any stat says that Gabriel is the best at something, that stat is stupider than LaGerald Vick's hair.

The kid looks like he plays hard and smiles, but Lordy. Pantone be damned, he plays honkier than anyone on Vermont's squad.

* Knox has the ability to score 20 and you not really notice until you see the box score. He seems like a nice, quiet kid. Not sure if he has the personality to be the team's star but it is waaaaay too early.

* I'm higher on Diallo than most. I think he will end up being the leader of the team. Tough kid. Frustrating, but he won't back down. I like that.

* I've already seen enough of SGA running point on offense. Like Gabriel as a small forward, that's one of Cal's ideas that sounds great in theory and when you see it live you just know it ain't gonna work.

The Deandre Liggins comparison really seems to work for SGA. Great player but not a point guard. Don't Clyde yourself Cal.

* I still like my team. There are some seriously worrisome warts (chiefly point guard and center -- you know, the two most important positions) but I think we will end up being really, really, really good. Make no mistake, we're terrible right now. But I see a very bright future.

- Knox has the looks and the game of a UNC player.

- Really high on Diallo. Looks to be the best **** talker as well.

- Washington has been a huge disappointment.

- I knew the SGA hype was overblown this summer.

- Honestly, I don't really like my team. Just doesn't seem like the pieces fit. Maybe Vanderbilt coming back will fix that.

Richards had 9 rebounds and should have about 15 probably. Clean that up will go a long way towards helping the defense/cutting down defensive possessions.

One positive is our guys look aggressive. Not really a timid pussboi team that’ll give up at the first sign of adversity. We just had incredible dick fingers, and were lost about 40% of the time last night.

-Yep. You can teach basketball...you can't teach onions.

SGA is our only hope, and I'm pleased with that.

QUADE WORE UNC BLUE FFS! Cal should've ripped his *** in the locker room for that crap. Diallo should have called him a f****. Something. Quade might start at EKU this year. Poor kid just has severe physical limitations, as well as mental ones apparently.

From a fan’s perspective, this Calipari team has the same season-starting, super frustrating adjustment as others: Referring to a kid with a hyphenated name instead of the single names that were mostly used throughout recruiting.

Michael Gilchrist, Karl Towns, Shai Alexander

Start hyphenating those names in middle school, high-major prospects, and TIA!

I would have taken any shot (including a half court shot) over the behind the backboard shot Knox tried to tie the game. Freshmen! At least we got a shot Tubby team would have dribbled it off a foot.

* I was encouraged for the most part after the game, but I still couldn't sleep.

* SGA did some good things on D, but man, take care of the ball. 6 TOs. Yikes.

* Washington was by far the most disappointing player to me last night. But I think he is going to be very good sooner rather than later.

* Knox, SKJ and Diallo were good. I would've liked to have seen a little more of the Kiwi.

* After a terrible start, the defense was pretty good most of the time. Still had too many breakdowns, but all-in-all was pretty solid. 10 blocks and 7 steals.

* Rebounds and 50/50 balls were much better in the 2nd half. But we had a couple of ball watchers that allowed them a 2nd opportunity for their honk to hit that dagger 3.

* I still like my team and think we could be special come Madness time.

-I don't think this team has it in them this season to be special. They can be good but I don't see special unless Vando is a beast. Too many missing pieces.

-Totally agree on Washington. He was completely lost on those double teams.

-Richards will try everything to go this year and if we have any chance at being really good he needs to be in that conversation. SKJ looked really serviceable though.

I’v always thought Vanderbilt would be our best player- and was more emboldened after the All-Star games, so I may need to put my boner away, but...

I just love forwards you can run the offense through - guys like Chandler Parsons at Florida. Helps the guards out so much.

Define special?

For me, it is Final Four with a chance to win it all.

A long way to go, for sure. But unlike others I think the pieces are there (assuming Vanderbilt comes back healthy).

The way they flipped the script on the rebounding numbers in the 2nd half tells me they are coachable and are capable of improvement.

Not sure this team is "special". I think we are better off to admit this is probably a bridge year. Kinda like 2011--->2012 and 2014-->2015 even though those teams went to the Final 4.

* We are who we thought we were. Long, explosive, talented, sloppy, unsure, green, and loaded with potential. We're not elite, but lots of not-elite teams have made deep runs. Roll the dice, hope for some breaks, and see what happens.

* Don't think I heard the announcers mention Vanderbilt once last night, though to be fair, I had the TV muted for long stretches.

* Didn't expect Washington to dominate the game, but also didn't expect him to **** down both legs either. Surely he's not that bad.

* Can't stand late Tuesday games. Brushed my teeth this morning and my toothbrush was still wet from last night.

* Duke doesn't play another team ranked in the top 50 of KenPom until January 15.

* On to Georgia.

Honestly, could go for some cake right about now. And on April whenever it is, but cake is good all the time. I want cake every day. Shame we have to wait so long to let the sucker bake.

*GYERO would be much better if the thread was locked during the games. Lots of good, rational takes postgame, yet a bunch of pointless, mind-numbing, knee-jerk ******** during the game. Just grab a Coke, watch the game, and come back here later and let us know what you think.

*Moral victories are ********, but I am encouraged by what I saw. This team is dumb as rocks right now, but they have heart. And I'd rather it be that way in November than vice versa. All night I felt like KU was going to run it out to 15 points at some point, but we never let them.

*Everyone has said what needs to be said about SKJ and how good he was, but I'm still a believer in PJ Washington. I don't know if it was nerves, pressing, or whatever last night, but I think he's going to end up as one of our most important players. We need something resembling a post presence, and he's got the physicality and athleticism to do so.

*Knox is our most skilled player, but Diallo is the alpha. I think as the year goes along, he's the guy in who's hands you'll want the ball at the end of the game.

*Only disappointment for me so far this season is Green. I really thought he'd be a steady PG for us in the Teague mold, but he's weak on D and doesn't facilitate anything in the half court. Lots of pounding the ball up top and then just passing it off to the wings. I don't think SGA is the answer at the point (the Liggins comp is pretty good there), but I'm not sure Green really does much for us either. Plenty of time, obviously.

*Wenyen Gabriel- name one thing he does well. I'll wait.

*Beyond excited to see what Vanderbilt brings to this team.

*I know Cal despises zone, and I'm not a huge fan of it myself, but how the hell do you get a shot off on a 2-3 zone with 4 guys that have 7+ foot wingspans? We can just smother some teams with it, if we wanted to.

*Trevon Duval was much better than I was expecting. He makes Duke scary this year. Clear cut #1. Just have to hope they get sniped by somebody like we did in '10 and '15. Would be nice to steal one of their titles instead of vice versa. I don't think they want to see Michigan State again in March, though.

*Stay on that 2/3 seed line, and no #1 seed wants to see us between them and the Final Four.

*I like my team.
