What a gorgeous day...I am stuck in an office so a couple of thoughts:

--- Jarren Williams re-commit is huge. Kid is really smart and a great leader. I think (and I know this may look foolish in hindsight because you never know) he is a game changer. I really do. He can be our Teddy Bridgewater. We shall see.

--- Still think we get Bamba....staff feels confident and as I learned on Knox, what they feel is always better than what even the best recruiting expert surmises. I think Texas is the real competition and I have no idea why, but you cant judge taste.

--- Diallo was 90% returning three weeks ago...now I have no idea. Everyone around UK and Diallo are surprised by how much his stock has increased. Any result wouldn't surprise me. He meets with teams today thru Wednesday that are hand selected by Calipari to actually be honest with him. What they tell him probably makes the decision.

--- I think I have found my new "UKO" on this message board...whoever this "Mashburned" fella is that posts here seems like the new trolliest guy in the GYERO group. I found out that apparently he is anonymous and none of you know him. I admit to being curious as he seems to really hate me and gets supremely angry about politics. Thats normal for some of the Rafters folks, but not the GYERO group. In addition he took the "DONT SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT OUR PLAYERS" take on my Briscoe comments today...an odd thing for a GYERO-ite to believe. Oh well, he does entertain me so I do enjoy his fury.

--- Speaking of anger, was Tucker talking about you all on the kids thing? Kyle and I have been getting along lately and I think he means well but he even makes my skin look hardened. He does post a lot of baby pictures for a guy but I freely admit to understanding nothing about parenting and maybe if I ever have a kid I will do the same. He was the last media member that I really feuded with but we both got over that. Miss him at the Courier, even though his stuff is still good at the Country place.

--- June 6 is coming for the UL people and they are concerned. Everyone is on edge and a source that knows everything told me, "Matt literally there isn't anyone that is sure what is going to happen." The Foundation and NCAA coming at the same time...from everything I hear, the Foundation audit is a much more pressing concern for all things Card.

--- Anyone ever seen the British show "People Just Do Nothing" on Netflix...sort of like a British Trailer Park Boys...I love it. Try it sometime, especially if you like the British "Office."

That is all

Rick Pitino once called press conference to berate the media for talking about the trial of the woman who was extorting him after he nailed her in a public place for approximately 15 seconds ON THE DAY TED KENNEDY DIED.

I know that's not news to anyone, but every once in a while remembering all minutiae of the ridiculous things that have happened over there just blows my mind.

"Bowl! Bowl! Bowl! At 'Bol Bol Bowl!'"

This guy was born to be a bowling alley owner-operator. The copy writes itself.

Matt, see if Shannon can get that folksy sex criminal character from the car commercials to do one on spec for us. TIA

I think so? He directly referenced "trolls" on Cats Pause making fun of his posting kid pictures and the kid's names. I think this is the only place he could be talking about. I post a ****-ton of pictures of my kids but you gotta be self-aware enough to be able to laugh when others give you a hard time over it. Nobody actually dislikes anyone's kids, that's just common sense.

Matt, can you unblock me on Twitter? I've got a separate account just to check @Kysportsradio and it's a hassle, and I haven't had a bad word to say about you in about 5 years. @JHammon67. Please and thanks.

June 6, is my birthday. My long shot birthday wish is for the banner to come down, but any bad thing that comes UaL's way will make for the best birthday ever.

Bluegrass State Colonels.

Same color as old Colonels.

UK fans can wear blue.

They can wear red.

Everybody wins.

Wrong. We've got all of our focus on building a new state of the art soccer stadium that will host a team made up of the equivalent of NAIA talent but hey it's really cool to dress up like backdrops in Braveheart and march down the street before matches.

-It makes me nervous/insecure when people I know give up drinking.

-Vegas this Friday-Wednesday. The conference is Mon-Tues, so a couple days destroying myself before will be good. I've been pretty behaved the last two trips out there, but sense some untapped rage that I suspect may surface. We'll see.

Cosmo FTW.

-Lass got all of her herbs potted this weekend! Will be cool to watch them slowly die in vain over the next 120 days or so.

-A bit insane that this even merits discussion in light of where we were after the Southern Miss game last year, but is Stoops a lifer? I mean, of course there are 5-10 gigs that you absolutely leave for, but outside of that, is it more appealing to take a second tier ACC, Big Ten, or Big 12 job than stay at perennial SEC cellar-dweller UK?

I'd say it's probably up to the individual (reasons being alma mater, close to home, etc.) and not a foregone conclusion as it used to be. With the SEC money/his contract, and now the facilities UK has, we've probably seen a meteoric rise in the appeal of the job all things considered.

-The Mizzou/Auburn switch makes all of the sense in the world, but certainly would prefer playing the former every year from a win perspective. Auburn is certainly a better roadie to have in the semi-annual rotation, however.

-REK June 19 at Mercury. Anyone else going?

Celtics/Wizards -- what a series.

Wiz just need one more real piece. Beal is pretty damn dope when healthy, he & Wall are just lethal. Some will argue Wall still hasn't gotten over some "hump", but it's pretty obvious to most he officially made the leap this year. Good for him.

Isaiah Thomas is pretty amazing. I mean, he's basically unstoppable & has been the best closer in the league the entire season. He's a cool story, as is that entire team, really. Horford is still so damn good, but :weary: at watching that goofy shot go in time after time.

Recycled Take (norichie), but damn, The NBA is such a superior product on the floor to college -- it's not even close. Are there really people still making the lazy take that the "NBA Sucks?"

I hardly watch it in general until the postseason just b/c I'm a college basketball nut & have no real rooting interest (and the gambol is impossible) -- but every time I do, it just hammers home how awful the actual basketball, officiating, & flow has become in college.

Tonight's the night where Chumps and I annually battle to see who has it worse.

From Bill Simmons this morning...

Speaking of train wrecks and hot messes, New Yorkers are actually quitting the Knicks. It’s that bad. For 20 years, the Knicks have been held hostage by a stubborn legacy kid who doesn’t understand basketball and can’t hire anyone competent to save his life. This man cultivated an atmosphere of fear and distrust at MSG, refuses to acknowledge the concerns of his fan base in any meaningful way, and every so often, he insists on overpaying a famous person to keep screwing things up. He steadfastly refuses to sell the team even though EVERYONE WANTS HIM TO SELL THE TEAM.

Last month, a reader named Tom from New York sent me the following email: “After another abysmal Knicks season, I became depressed that the Knicks would never be competitive again in my lifetime due to James Dolan’s horrible leadership and guidance. I came to the conclusion the only way we could complete was if Dolan was gone. Knowing he would never sell the team, I was thinking of other ways he could lose the team. That led to the following two Google searches: ‘James Dolan Age’ (61) and ‘Average Human Death Age’ (79). Only 18 more years! Maybe! I am not proud of this email. I blame Dolan, Phil Jackson, and Isiah Thomas for making me this way.”

And I’m not proud of running that email. What does rock bottom feel like? Read the previous paragraph again. Only the Knicks could win the lottery and make non–New York fans say, “That’s nice, good for them,” like they’re talking about someone who just started dating again after his fiancée fell into a sinkhole. The Karma Gods have no other choice.

Who am I kidding? New York would just draft Fultz or Tatum since they're the only guys in the lottery I don't like.

NBA is a better product. College basketball, outside the tourney, sorta, and of course our Cayuts, is crap. It's a war of attrition on who can handle the whistle best. NBA especially in the playoffs just lets the players play.

I wish I could get into it but can't randomly pick a team and 82 games is a long *** season. But the playoffs make for good spring/summer watching.

You could even say the NBA is faaaannnnnntttaaassstic!

If your pro team is owned by a ****** owner, there's really no hope outside of a sale of the team. That has to be depressing.
Life has a 100% mortality rate!

(When Mike Brown dies and/or steps down at the end of the lease in a few years his family will sell the Bengals, the team will move to London, and local taxpayers will keep paying for an empty stadium!)

Sad but true. :(

- Lexington Beer Fest this Saturday - anyone going? Small group of us decided to hit it up. Babysitter lined up so looking forward to day drinking for several hours and stumbling over to Cheapside for some patio wells.

- Hitting up Sarasota for a week during July shutdown near Siesta Key with the fam. Anyone have any good food/beach recs?

- Watched Moana with the 3 YO the other day and it was really good. Catchy tunes, awesome visuals, the Rock voices a huge Samoan demigod, etc... Kids have it good these days with studios popping out solid films seemingly every couple months. Back in my day you had to wait until Summer for that one Disney blockbuster flick and that was really it. Then when it came out on VHS you wore the **** out of it.
