Really like the new generation of golfers.. Spieth, Ricky, Justin Thomas, etc.

They seem loose and don't take themselves too seriously. A friend of mine is good buddies with Justin Thomas. Briefly got to meet him at the UK vs Bama game in Tuscaloosa last fall at Gallete's next to the stadium. Dude just roles in the patio nonchalant with a domesto in hand. Hussies going wild. Taking pics with all kinds of smoke and nodding his head to fans. Cool as ice.

They don't look stressed or angry.

-Those videos of Rickie, JT, Jordan, and the boys down on some Island hammered after the Masters last year are awesome. Love the new breed, Professional Golf is in a great place.

-Convo on GC last night about Phil not quite getting his due in terms of the all time greats, and I have to agree. He's easily Top 10, and one more away from flirting with Top 5-6 imo -- especially if you factor in his Amateur Career, which is heavily weighed for many of the older greats. They flashed a stat showing players cumulative totals of 1st, 2nd, & 3rd all time in Majors.

I love anth's posturing, as if there's any difference between his "Bucket List," and just simply booking **** with his dad.

Good luck on that Masters trip, though. That would be an absolute dream. Really hope you can find a way to make it work!!!
Yeah, I actually like my dad and enjoy spending time with him. Don't see him ever going to a golf tournament but that wouldn't work for whatever you're trying to do.

Also, if you can tell me how to "just book" a Masters trip, then I'm all ears.

Go online, Buy Premo Tickets off StubHub like you do for every sporting event, Drive to Augusta.

The only reason The Masters is such "once in a lifetime" trip for most people is the Cost. It's no harder to get a Masters ticket in 2017 than it is to get a Courtside Seat to the Sweet 16 -- you just have to pay out the *** for it, which you regularly do.

Justin Thomas is cool. Remember warming up next to him on the range before a few high school tournaments. Ran into him on a couple occasions at Gerstles, said what's up to him one time and he bought me and my buddy a round of Vegas bombs. So I'm a huge JT guy.

That's a good way to pick a golfer

If you don't enjoy a little Golf discussion on Masters Weekend, I suggest you head on over to Rafters and talk some John Higgins.:victory:

I appreciate his unwavering commitment to the whole "everything is terrible/everyone is dumb/none of this is enjoyable" schtick.

I mean it makes you wonder why someone like that invests so much time and money into something that clearly only brings them misery but it does make for good twittering

Must've been all that 2nd round talk that made Briscoe hire an agent so he doesn't even have an opportunity to return. Oh well.

Also with regards to going professional in any sport, clearly Golf is the best choice right? I don't play or follow golf and even I can see it would be amazing. Constantly in great weather in amazing locations, can play until your 75, great money, smokeshow girls. Man what a life that would be. Going to force my kid to start playing when he's 5 years old and see if he's got anything in it.

Early indications are Quade Green, and whatever actual shooter we can hopefully sign.

-Other than Monk/Fox, Briscoe was the biggest lock to leave.

-Of course as soon as he makes fun of me for the Masters trip, BBdk hits me up on gchat to plan it for next year. Lol.

-Golf is easily the best professional sport life.

We've talked about it every year for at least the last 5, and assume we will yearly until we finally pull the trigger.

I was making fun of you for acting like it's a tough deal for YOU to work out. It's not. You have a free place to stay that you've mentioned no less than 30 times -- all you have to do is buy a ticket and hop in the Rover.

Phil can get there but he's not in the top 10 of all time as of now and certainly not easily like your post.

Honestly the fact you can sit at work and watch golf on your computer and/or phone is pretty amazing if you stop to think about it.

So this year, rather than the press conference in which all the players announce they're leaving, we're doing a one player per day deal.

Monday: Fox
Tuesday: Monk
Wednesday: Bam (no agent)
Thursday: Briscoe (no agent)
Friday: Wenyen heads to Europe
Saturday: Isaac transfers
Sunday: SKJ quits basketball
Monday: Wynyard returns to New Zealand
Tuesday: Brad is emancipated
Wednesday: ???

Prefer this approach, frankly. More dramatic.

Right on schedule.

I'm guessing the positive feedback he got in last year's workouts were a big factor in his decision. (That. and the fact that he never envisioned having to return for his sophomore year, much less his junior year.)

* I'm not at a point in my life right now where I'm dying to drop the amount of cash necessary to make Augusta, but it's absolutely happening at some point. What an amazing experience that would be. Same with the Open Championship.

* Before anyone starts, Isaiah Briscoe going pro and undrafted isn't a failure. It's what he does from this point going forward that will ultimately determine his fate. He's 20 years old, and can likely move overseas 4-6 months a year, and make $500k/year for the next 2 decades playing basketball. He can even continue to work on his college degree for free. Really wish him the best. At his finest, he sure was fun as hell to watch.

* Finnegan with a gem last night. Redlegs are 1-1. Yeehaw.

I never blame anyone for deciding to make money for playing basketball at any level. That is my dream. I would play in Mongolia if they paid me. And I hope Briscoe makes it. I just don't see it. But I'm rooting for him, of course.

Jack/Tiger/Snead/Palmer/Hogan/Hagen/Watson.....who else are you going to put in front of Phil with legitimate reasoning?

Gary Player & Bobby Jones, perhaps.

But Phil is Top 10 now, and will definitely retire as such and be thought of that way decades from now, imo.

Lists are nothing but opinions but he's certainly not in my top 10 right now. And i respect Phil's game to the utmost degree. I still think he has 2 majors in him and will for sure be there but he's not now and certainly not easily which was posted.

Not sure Phil has a top 10 resume, but he's right there. It's splitting hairs with some of those guys.

In terms of who was the actual better golfer, it's tough for me to put some of the really old guys up there with a guy like Phil. If Phil played Bobby Jones, both in their prime, with today's equipment, I'm not so sure Phil doesn't wax Bobby. There are so many more quality golfers now than in the old days. It's hard to win 47 Majors when the shittiest guy in the field can shoot 59 on any given day.
